Rather than spend the dough on the damn shirts to start with he could have made a lump sum payment on his debt and bought himself a temporary stay of forclosure as well as some time to sell off a few high ticket luxury items to bring down his debt.
So many who "have" money don't understand how to manage it, while many in the "have not" catagory would know what to do if they ever did get it.
Just my 2 cents.
