No study time or anything else for that matter

Yesterday and today have sucked big ones. Hits all day yesterday, then several big ones this morning. I avoid the Trex shots like the plague. Had to take one today however.

Why do I avoid them?
Well it is like this. Today was the 3rd time I have had to shoot up with Trex, and for the third time, 3-5 minutes after the shot, I am slammed to the wall when the k8 monster escalates to rabid k10. This goes on for 15 to 20 mintues before it lets up. I have tried the injections in different places, just as you have told me, and it makes no difference.
We thought it was my issue with needles that might cause this, but today I was hurting so bad, that I did it without any thought at all.. My wife didn't really believe me that it was the trex, until today, because I told her what to watch for. Now she believes.
I have read the papers and do not find any reference to this type of reaction.. There is the usual, fast breathing, heavy feeling in the chest, ect... but not this.

I am begining to think that when it comes to using trex to abort, it is the Devils Choice.
Don't take it and be miserable for an underminable time, Take it and wish you would die during 20 minutes of pure hell.

It is official. I am now Episodic. I have had 37 pf days this year. There is no "cycle" however, just days like yesterday and today. I now firmly believe that chronics have the better end of this deal.
I can hope that maybe I will end up like Jonny with time totally pf. So far my record is 6 days straight.

I feel ok now.. some shadows, mostly exhaustion, lethargic, yuk.

Just thought I would let my family know what is up.
Thank you for being here.

Lance I think you've got mixed up with the episodic/chronic definition honeybun.. chronic means one year without 30 consecutive days of pain free time. If you have had 37 days in total but they weren't in a row.. and if 6 days in a row is the most you have had.. you're chronic  Undecided
Trex is very intense, it's amde to be, it's made to get into your bloodstream faster. I would suggest you try a different triptan such as maxalt or zomig or even frovatriptan (but only use that by taking it a couple of hours ahead of when you can expect a hit)
Don't forget the golden rule about mixing triptans though! I know PG seems to think it's safe to do so but alot more people here would disagree so no mixing triptans within 24 hours of each other!
Have you tried o2?

Sorry, Lance. I like Helen's idea about changing meds. I never was a fan of Imitrex.
Sending PF vibes and prayers. hugs, nani

Innitially, I had the same reaction to Trex.  However, because I would get hit on the job, I'd have no choice but to take a pop and abort ASAP to get back to my desk.  An hour or better hit was NOT an option.  After I started to break the shots down to 2-3mg. and was taking them quite regularly, then did the ramp up from the trex get just a bit less and fewer other side effects and abort in the same 10 minutes.

Not sure if you break the shots down or not, but that may be your next step.  Otherwise, I agree with Helen and maybe look for a different triptain?

Thank you for answering Ladies!

Helen, TY! I have tried O2, but the home use did not work, mainly because the regulator only went to 8 LPM rather than the 12-15 LPM recommended here. I have been unable to afford the monthly cost of an O2 tank and regulator, as well as a mask that works. The Trex I have are samples from my Neuro because she is aware of my financial situation. I got the Trex in March, and have taken 3 shots total since I got them. I fear the ramp up from the shots worse than a monster hit that comes on it's own. I guess mainly  because I know what is coming because of the shot.

30 days staight, pf????   That sounds like a pipe dream to me. I guess since I have always been chronic, staying chronic is, how shall I say... just another day in the life?

I will check with my Neuro to see if she can get me maxalt or zomig samples.

Nani, Thank you, they are much needed. Fighting another hit this morning..

Pegg, I tried splitting the dose one time, and it didnt work at all. Ended up taking the full amount anyway.

I guess after having a few pf days, the monster seems much worse. I think having daily hits numbs you to the severity of the pain, just a little.

Thanks for your help, and caring
