My apologies to everyone that just threw up in their mouths by reading his name... 
I know this story is a few days old, but...
Just a few days before accepting a plea for using illicit methods to obtain the prescription narcotic Oxycontin, Rush Limbaugh (perhaps trying to be the worst hypocrite ever) is quoted as saying, "The FDA says there's no -- zilch, zero, nada -- shred of medicinal value to the evil weed, marijuana. This is going to be a setback to the long-haired, maggot-infested, dope-smoking crowd."
There is an interesting editorial about the lack of justice in the war on pain management which is exemplified by Rush getting no prison and Richard Paey who is serving 25 years. I will warn you that this editorial is unfair to conservatives. There are a lot of conservatives that disagree with Rush in this area (especially paleo-conservatives) and some liberals that do agree. I don't see this as a conservative vs. liberal issue. Still, I do see Rush a slime-ball for continuing to support the drug war against everyone except himself.

The Economist, a conservative business magazine, has a story about medicinal marijuana in their current issue. They contrast a National Academy of Science blue ribbon panel (which found benefits) with the FDA study (written and approved by political hacks on ideological grounds, not scientific). I guess that Rush is citing the political hacks, which isn't too surprising.

He is just a big mouth. The only reason Rush is a household name is because he was there as a conservative overreaction to Clinton. Without that most people, moderates, don't want to hear him rant. Just like Michael Moores movie popularity is just a reaction to Bush. Just give me journalistic integrity and it does not matter what the editorials say, which is why I listen to NPR for my news, it's the only place I can find that integrity despite the liberal editorials.

I listen to Rush EVERYDAY. I love him for the entertainment value alone. I have never heard him say he was not guilty.
And if you have ever listened to his show you would know most of what he says is sarcastic.
So if you are just reading what he said or just listening to what someone said he said, well then you’re not going to get it.

oh, and calling for intellectual honesty in a post about Rush is probably pushing your luck....

He does believe he is an entertainer. Just the other day someone called up and was commenting on him and his SHOWMANSHIP. Rush says that’s because you listen and you get it. If you listen to his show, not just snippets of it taken out of context, you would know that he very much believes he is an entertainer.
And does it make me a hypocrite because I believe in the war against drugs, but have tried alternative treatments.

It is up to YOU to educate yourself and then help your doctor plan your treatment. If you just sit down in front of your doctor and say "make me better" you are setting yourself up for a great deal of pain.

Please name one member of the ruling class elite, that most people love or hate, this includes politicians, entertainers (see hollywood and the music industry), members of the media, and professional athletes who aren't hypocrites. All of these people live in a world different than ours. They are ALL above the law, show me one instance where they are not. But yet we all defend and/or crucify those that we empathise with based on the opinions that we have formed due to the information that is spoon-fed to us by the same ruling class elite members of the media. Every one of us doesn't mean shit to any of them. And none of them have ever had to "walk the walk" a day in their lives. They are either coddled through college (professional athletes), go to private schools ( all the rest), and attend ivy league institutions where daddy made a big contribution and are given preferential treatment. These people are ALL worthy of your outrage, instead they have us all fighting against each other, while they all sit on high and mock us. These people ALL socialize together, their kids go to school together, the whole left vs. right thing is a falicy that most Americans have fallen for. That's where intellectual honesty comes in. It's time to look at the big picture and learn to think for yourselves. Otherwise we are setting ourselves up for a nice little century of oppression brought to you by "democracy". In history every form of democracy or republic has eventually become a dictatorship. It's coming folks, time to wake up, or we can all sit around and argue about left vs. right and send in those campaign donations while our freedoms disappear at an alarming rate. I see it every day. But that's just me, I'm objective to a fault. Most people aren't.
