Do you believe in ...

Bad Karma? Like things happen in three's? Like a shadow appears around your person (or over your head) and bad things keep happening to you for no reason you know of? So, my hubby gets in a pretty bad car accident. He's bruised and battered, but will be OK. The car is totalled - so is the car of the guy he hit (yes, it was my hubby's fault). We start wading through all the insurance hassles. Meantime, the church minister - yes you read me right - develops back pain and suddenly has many medical expenses. Then, we finally get the left-over insurance money, cash in a few investments and go out to buy a new car. Find a great new Toyota Scion ( the cute one, not the ugly one), and went to pick it up today at 11:00. Our sales guy rushes out of the building and say's "I'm so sorry!" Turns out at 9:00 this morning, a parts delivery man backed right into our new car. Of course, they'll fix it, but we'll ultimately be buying a "new" repaired car. No others on the lot, so we'll have to wait for quite awhile if we don't take this one. Bad Karma? Kris

I would have said that I wanted out of the car deal and gotten my money back! Yes I think you are having bad luck right now. but it usually occurs in threes so you should be ok now. Praying for good things to come your way.

I think it's a safe bet you have nothing but good karma coming your way, Kris. that's how it works. (IMHO, wait for the new, "unsmashed" car)

When I was a kid, my family was driving in an old Astro van on the PA turnpike to Pittsburgh. We were at old exit 8 on the turnpike when this flap from behind the wheel on an 18 wheeler truck fell off. A woman in a brand new car ran over it, it spun around in her wheel and spit out the back of her car - straight into the grill of our van...leaving a gigantic hole in the van. Good thing my dad had been tailgaiting the woman or else the flap (complete with rusty metal piece) would have flown through the windshield and taken somebody's head off. And no - I didn't have any qualms on congratulating my dad for tailgaiting in front of the cop that came to the scene either...I was a child, afterall. The woman got a flat tire. She told us she'd just bought the car and she was so convinced in its bad karma from there on out that she was actually going to get rid of it after that. She said she'd had a bad feeling about that car from the start. I woulda thought the car was fine and frankly it was just a fluke, but you know how those "gut feelings" can be! I'm sure your car is safe and as they said above - nothing but good karma coming your way now! However, I'd still have it checked twice and see how much of a price reduction you can get on it!! Hugz, Carrie

Kris, I believe that there are people who refuse to learn some important lessons they are supposed to learn and therefore life makes them face sad events. One of my relatives is one of those people, she hasn't learned her lesson, though. I don't think that you are one of them, Kris. But what comes to you, I think that it's bad karma, just unlucky events. We all know that CHit happends sometimes. Unfoutunately you have seen that happen around you now. I strongly believe that those things took place because happy, wonderful things are on their way to your life in a while and after facing all that you can appreciate them even more. Wishing you all the best, Sanna

I'd get out of that deal. They'll tell you the car was repaired and in perfect shape but you'll always have that nagging question until the day you sell it. "Is the car repaired properly and is it safe to get more than 2 blocks from home?"

Thanks for all your thoughts, guys! Yes, we're now waiting on a new car. Yes, it's all my husband's fault. Yes, I would kick him in the ass if he wasn't already suffering - emotionally and physically. It seems the minister he hit wasn't so forgiving. Has hired an "ambulance chasing" law firm and is seeking "pain and suffering" damages. Double kick in the ass when my hubby is better! BTW Gina - I love Earl! Kris

I believe in Karma in the sense that you reap what you sow, but not in any understandable or graspable mystical way. Regarding the number three, it is a much bigger deal in western culture than others. The number five is a huge deal in the east yet we don't see it as all that special here. I do believe that life experience is very mysterious yet not chaotic, but I don't think anyone can put a finger on it. What if they could?
