Just looked at a video with a CH attack. And I am in shock, If this is what I look like even remotely, my wife said I do, she looked at it too, Please tell me I don’t! If until today I was under the impression it’s my imagination, that It must be ugly! Now I know it’s very ugly………. I hate it…… cant it be like before, without the devil in me? I wish I didn’t look at the video I feel so bad and frustrated…… reality at last overtook me……... Michael

We have an uncanny knack at denyal when it comes to our own condition, but seeing another sufferer get nailed by the Beast brings it all back home and "in your face". It's important to witness another Chead get slammed, because that is when our supporter mode kicks in, because WE understand intimately what they are feeling and what they are going through. Bless Chuck for allowing himself to be put on video. The educational value of this is immeasurable.

I couldn't watch it. 15 seconds into it I almost started crying and shut it off. Kinda like listening to your own voice being recorded, you always hate to listen to it!! Guiseppi

Have to admitt that im looking at it from another angle. I think its really FUN and interresting to stay up there on the podium and do my things while the DVD of Chuck getting hit are running in the background. Guess i have to explain a bit Its fun to see some of the reactions among those that are there to listen. Its interresting to see how the so called healthpersonell react on the dvd and my speach Have to admitt that the dvd of Chuck has really open a lot of doors for me over here. The best from Svenn

After all this time, I have not seen it yet. Where can I find it? There are a bunch of nurses and docs at work that need to see it.

It was bad enough seeing Chuck get hit "first hand" -- I don't need to see the video, but those of you who've never seen a person get hit SHOULD watch it -- it will open your eyes and anyone else who watches it. I never knew until I saw Kip (the first Clusterhead I ever saw get hit in front of me) how hard it is to watch someone else take a hit. It's bad from this side, but watching is awful. In Nashville I watched a "big guy" out in the hall wringing his hands because he couldn't watch another get hit. He was white as a sheet - he commented that it was easier to take the hit himself. Watch the show if you haven't seen it -- it will open your eyes. Hugs BD

I am afraid I only made it half way thru before I had to quit. I know that feeling so well, I want to help him, and I can't. What a horrible feeling. I cannot believe our supporters can stand to watch, and know there is nothing they can do. I have tears in my eyes. That was me in that video. Chuck, I am sorry you have to deal with this. Lance

My point in this thread was, I don’t think (for me!) the clip had an educational value, For the supporters in our families…. They have been in that movie before…..god I respect Them all for what they have to go throughu….. I think I would rather have the CH then having to Deal with the beast as a supporter…. For my self like I said….I feel so bad and frustrated…… reality at last overtook me……...I would rather Still live in the “dark” and not have reality overtake me! And there is no way I will recommend to any one (but the medical profession) to look at the clip, Pain and suffering is in no way entertaining and will not bring much to our community if our friends, And others will see it, they will feel sorry for us, But will they understand – NO, will they understand What our supporters feel – NO, will it at least open there eyes to what we go through – NO, its like me Watching TV and on the news I see the suffering in another place in the world…. I feel for them – for about 2 minutes, do I understand – I might but do I care – for tops 5 minutes - its not my problem will they understand what our supporters go through NO WAY, even I don’t and I am part of it (the one who causes all the fuss) So what is the point of the clip? Am I being a troll or just in a bad mood after the clip, and thinking abut it? I respect you Chuck for allowing yourself to be put on video, I would not have done it! And on a good note, its Sunday, so have a wonderful week-end, Michael

Michael, I'll try to explain what our Dear Viking Friend Svenn is trying to say. Svenn speaks and educates at Headache Symposiums across Norway and beyond in Europe as well. Many if not all of the professionals that attend these meetings have "heard" of, but have never seen a CH hit. Many are under the misguided belief that...although there is pain involved...it can't be as bad as we say it is. Many of the Doctors and Nurses and other professionals that Svenn finds entertaining to watch, is due to the innitial horror and shock they show plainly on their faces, and then the slow melt to understanding and compassion and enlightenment. That is if they haven't had to leave the room in tears. You are not trolling Michael, not one bit. For many people it IS a hard thing to watch. I'd much rather be the one getting hit than know anyone is getting hit. I teeter on the brink of tears watching Jody get hit. My heart jumps to my throat when I see that tell tale twitch under his eye, or he begins to rub his temple as he stops dead in mid stride. It's not entertainment, it's education. Every HA clinic and Neurology Department in every medical facility in every country around the world needs to see that clip. Your Friend, Pegg

And from the other side (supporters), it gives the headache sufferer a clue as to what it looks like from the outside looking in, watching someone in that type of pain, knowing there is not a frickin' think you can do. We were in Dallas last year and Jimbo got to see irl what I had *looked at* for many years and I do think it gave him a different perspective to think about. just my 1/2 cent here. 'darlin

The first time I ever even SAW another Clusterhead was last year in Dallas. Very first person I saw when I walked into the hotel lobby was Jonny. I said his name and he turned and walked toward me and hugged me so hard I thought he would break my ribs! Not complaining it was extremely comforting to me to know that the person with their arms around me honestly knew and understood exactly what I go through daily. The first person I saw get hit was Chuck. I lost it. I had to leave the room. I could not comprehend that this was what I look like when I get hit, not all the time because I am "lucky" and don't get hit with the intensity or frequency that Chuck does, but at the same time I had to realize that everyone was there for the same reason... to try to help each other. I wanted to take that away from him so bad and literally could not stay in the room when anyone got hit. It just about did me in. I was also amazed that throughout the weekend I was told before I even knew it was coming that I was about to get hit by other Clusterheads just looking at me. Helen called one while we were standing in line at the store. Sure enough about 30 seconds later I got hit. That was the night that my sister (first one in my family to witness a hit) saw me go through one and when I looked up when it finally stopped (Pegg sat with me rubbing my back - I'm ok with being touched sometimes during an attack) and saw the tears running down her face THAT just about killed me because I knew right then and there that being a supporter had to be 10 times worse than being a sufferer. Ellen was so shocked seeing it happen. I had told her what happens before we got to Dallas but until you see it firsthand it's inconceivable. Sorry this is kind of rambling on but it's so hard to put into words. I want to thank Chuck for allowing himself to be taped. I just watched it again and cried... as I will everytime I see another person get hit. It doesn't get easier to see no matter how many times you see it. I have had a stern talk with myself and will not run from the room in Milwaukee when someone gets hit. I will help in any way I can while we are there. Chris is a damn good supporter so he will be a great help as well. Sorry for the ramble but I hope what I'm trying to say comes across. Karen
