Cat is out of the bag

I've been holding out this news cause I wanted to surprise everyone after it happened, but after yesterday's ultrasound we have been told it's going to happen ANY MINUTE and I'll probably be off-line for some time. My wife is 8 1/2 months pregnant with our first child. She's technically due may 11th, but the doc said earlier this week he would induce her on the 10th. Yesterday's ultrasound put the baby's weight at 8 lbs, 7 oz (3.85kg), so because it's so big, we may be parents sooner! We decided not to know the baby's sex (her idea), and I'm in charge of picking the name (my negotiation!). I have 2 names for each sex, because my wife does have veto power. Wish us luck! Jose PS: the baby was conceived about 2 weeks after my cycle ended last July.

Congrats. Since ultrasounds are +/-1 lb or so (when done by a good tech) I doubt they will induce her any earlier so don't get your hopes up for an earlier induction. Either way, enjoy the experience. With all the pain (for your wife) comes a lot of joy. I remember the brith of my first like it was yesterday (I put the shoe covers inside out - they decked me out in all the surgery gear for her C-section when they called it). Anyway, enjoy and congrats again.

Congratulations!!! Nothing like a new baby.... Is Bubba on the list? I always nickname the big ones "Bubba." But then, I work a NICU where the majority are on the tiny size...so even normal sized babies sometimes seem like "Bubba" to me....so don't listen to me. Best of luck and I hope the delivery goes smoothly!! Hugz, Carrie

Congratulations! Wishing y'all a safe delivery and joy beyond all comprehension when the little one arrives. I have 2 names you can use. Darryl picked 'em out if I ever got pregnant: Rosco Vincenzo Corleone Donald or Anastasia Shanequa Corleone Donald After he picked 'em, I had my tubes tied!!! oh, and can you tell he's a "Godfather" fan? LOL CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!

Thanks, everyone! I'm grinning from ear to ear as I read this thread! Helen: if you don't mind, I'll preempt your rooting. I'm hoping for May 7th (my birthday ). As it's on a Sunday, Doc already said NO to my idea of inducing that day... He's lazy!! And thanks to all the PMs too! Jose

Congrats -- everyone needs a hobby... Nothing like it -- I remember it like it was yesterday -- only about 40 years ago.... I still relate the 14 hours of labor I went thru to get him here and all the "suffering" I did and how he should appreciate me! (I'm working on being a Jewish mother!) But the other greatest joy is hearing the first cry of your first grandchild... now that's something else too... (and no pain!) Enjoy... Hugs BD
