Um.....this mite be nuther DUMB question but does anyone expect anymore of those protest outbursts at soldier's funerals and stuff.....like say for memorial weekend comein up ? We go on a big local bike run memorial weekend and visit several gravesites of old friends to pay respects and alot are veterans. We also now all ride out to the big veterans memorial site where Brad's das is buried to pay respects.....they have there veterans service that day too (Brad's mom and sum family attend it) and they have told us they love to see ya all thunder thru and stop. (we get a rather impressive number of bikes goin thru the small towns local for it) But I don't think sum of us could handle any outbursts in protest......esp Brad. I think it'd end up a big mess cuz my friends on this ride are VERY patriotic and would NOT take it either. We'd work to keep em away but it'd be a bad expireince I don't want to witness. Curious coots

We don't get a paper out here and have no idea how all this is going.....been tryin to get away from the national news for a while.......too depressing.

Hey Coots-

I'm sure the a--holes will be out to desicrate the Vets but I think it is more of word of mouth thing than really organized.  Ya might try noodining the web for protest info.  Might be organized enough that they have a web site.

I just can't imagine sombody doing something so scummy as badmouthing a person being buried in front of the family.  Something about it just brings out a rage in me.

Those chickenshits from that Westboro Baptist Church are probably smart enough to avoid bikers.  They save their dumbass protests for the actual funerals of our fallen soldiers.  I'm sure you'll have a great Memorial Day weekend.

They better hope I never run into their sorry asses while their demastrating at a funeral.I'd probably go down but I'd take as many with me as I could. My nephew Christophers funeral is the only miltary one I have attended.I was so proud to be an American and see our brave Soldiers in uniform.I talked to some of his friends at the time but it wasn't til months later I got to talk to those with him his final hours.Such brave men yet such kids they had a ceromony for Chris and another fallen paratrooper at Fort Bragg.I know these protesters probably neverwould have got close enough with these men their guarding Christophers body.Chris was a member of the 2nd Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina and proud of it.
sorry I'm rambling but I get so damned pissed everytime I hereof this group. It makes me sick.

on a positive note I have heard that a motorcycle group is going around and shieldng the soldiers families fromthis group.May God Bless each and everyone of them on their journey to protect the soldiers families.

I got to thinkin about it and since we go to this big vets memorial place where they have the huge ceremony the day we all ride thru I wonder'd if the protestors were goin to continue and target ceremonies. This one draws a pretty good sized crowd of locals for the ceremony......the vets families. And then WE go thru.......first time we went thru there a few years ago and added it to our list of visits that day several of the vets at the memorial place STOOD as we rode by with tears in there eyes and they came over to tell us how MOVED they were we all came thru and stopped !! All older guys that were vets that were helpin with traffic and the ceremony. It's a VERY impressive place with long winding paved roads past gravesites for a long ways that curve and bend and real nice and wooded. We usualy ride thru just before it starts so we don't disrupt it but get to ride past the seating area starting to fill up and think people LOOK for us now and come early to see us all. I would just HATE to see any protesting break out.......am sure our group would do what it had to do to control them too and have heard of the other groups doin that. I just wonder'd if anyone had heard of anything planned or mentiond. We have a few 'hot rodders' in our group that makes me nervous enuff that gotta show off so I don't need nothin else to add to it.   Pam, yes those aholes are going to do a lot more of those protests which is why I joined The Patriot Guard, South Carolina Chapter after reading and watching the post started by Carl which I have just bumped. ShariRae has also posted a link to the website for the guards. You start by going to that link and asking to join (very simple)

The Guard keeps tabs on upcoming funerals or events which may be targeted by these wackos. they update the events when they are fairly (very) sure that a protest will take place. They (we) are then asked by the Families involved to be there to avoid any extra grief being placed on the mourners.

It is a very simple and free method to join with no commitments except adhering to the respect rules of the Guards. No violence no matter what the provocation, no illegal acts.

I will be attending my first mission this coming Saturday at the services for a Marine Lance Corporal just northeast of Charlotte, NC. Bordering states commonly help each other to assure proper numbers to accomplish the goal.

I was readily accepted even though I do not ride. I will be a cage (car) driver. The group has a very real need for non cycle pukes like me as we can help transport flags, banners and supplies that are hard to carry as a rider.

This will be a learning experience for me so that I can find out how I can best help the national group. Unfortunately as with most hideous cult type lunatics of this ilk it is not just a Kansas problem as they are picking up copycat recruited weirdos from all over. Joining or participating with the Patriot Guards is not a political statement and no where will you be asked about affiliations or your view on the conflicts that are killing our young men and women.

It is about respecting the soldiers and the families that now have to deal with their loss.

Very interesting !! I am goin to check them out.......copycat protestors is what I also thought of for this memorial day cuz for them it could be a FIELD day.....goin to check out the site and forward it to all my friends that ride or mite be interested or keep tabs on. Not sure if there will be trouble all over or just certain locations.......seems bad stuff spreads like wildfires tho and all it takes is a little flicker to flame there burn ! With stressful times for alot of people rite now with jobs and health cost issues and insurence ect ect ect it could really cause some hair triggers. Cool thing yer doin Tim.....a good American Pam
