A study on Parkinson's disease found that those working overnight shifts produced a checmical that helps prevent Parkinson's. At least you have one good reason for working graves... Dragn

Hmmm...interesting to know as Parkinson's is a real beast in my family's genetic history! I'm off to 3rd shift tonight and tomorrow night, but they're really my last two. Too bad I love night shift. I'm going to mourn the loss of these!!! But I did what I had to do - needed to get on day/evening to help with my own health. So what's the chemical, anyways? Carrie

I was fortunate 10 months ago to switch to a department that doesn't have night shift. So, what is the chemical? Charlotte

I am afraid that I was on my way out the door at 5:30 am to go to work when this came up on the news this morning. I missed the last part, but watched enough to get the gist. The notation is pretty close to a quote from the news which got my attention. Sorry I didnt catch the rest of it, but I was running late

Bless you who can work the night shift. After 3-1/2 years, I couldn't stand it any longer. I bought black oil cloth to put over my bedroom windows. I used Melatonin and ear plugs, but the slightest noise woke me up anyway.....like neighbors mowing their lawns, or the garbage truck. I'd sleep real deeply for about 2 hours and than the noises kicked in and that was the end of going back to sleep. There were days when I got lucky and slept a full 3 hours. Good thing it was a 12 hour day only three times a week or I'd be dead by now. I did read, tho, that night people have a higher occurance of some cancers, so we win some and lose some, just like anything else.

It's 9:am here. I just got home from my 8 hours of graveyard shift. I see there are 25 guests and 27 members here at this time. My bet is the at least 48 of you are at work, only half awake and wishing you were home (like me). Eat your hearts out! I'm free for the day. You're at work. I can come and go as I please. You're stuck at work. I can take a nap if I want. You can't. I can drink beer at 9 in the morning. You can't. I can go buy tools or hot rod parts and guess what? You can't. You're stuck at work waiting for me. Working graveyard has it's rewards. Eat your hearts out day shift workers.

| I drive by a bunch of guys about 8 blocks from my office each morning that appear to relish in the same idea. The best parties are at that time, it appears. Scott
