Yes, keep us posted, and keep strong. Patti edited to add: I'm not sure exactly where our Aussie members fit in to this map, but I hope they are all safe.

Thanks for the kind words everybody. It's very re-assuring. Just had one helluva rough ride from our tropical island retreat down to Cairns on the North Queensland coast. Travelling to the east of where Monica had been but we still got all shook up. Due to arrive in Darwin tomorrow about the same time as the cyclone so that should make things interesting. Hey Tracii, relax. He'll have the beer in safe-keeping by now so everything will be fine. Head's down, Brian.

So far so good but a long way to go yet. Happy all is good your end, Tracii. http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDD65811.shtml We'll beat it to Darwin by about half a day so plenty of time to get essentials on ice. The joys of the tropics, B.

Hi Tracii Your Hubby will be OK, where about in the Territory is he. I wouldn’t worry about TC Monica heading that way, my main concern would be that Brian is heading in that direction and getting closer to me. But on a serious note Cat 5s aren’t something to muck around with, I live in the NW of WA & we have had 7 cyclones off the coast this season with 5 giving us a touch up, as far as preparedness goes the whole of the Northern Territory & the North of WA knows only to well what to expect & are prepared for anything coming our way, we are keeping an eye on Monica as the track and current location is typical of those that will cross into WA, follow the coast and generally cross back over the coast in our area. Both the Territory & the north of WA has had it’s fair share of wet this year, our yearly rainfall average is 300mm and we have had 900mm in the last 3 months. This link shows where us Aussies are. http://www.clusterheadaches.com/public_html/yabbimages/australia.gif Kind Regards Barry Barry

Hi Barry Hubby is in Nhulunbuy they had been on cyclone alert for about 3 days as it was heading directly for them. Monica was passing through late last night about 100ks north of Nhulunbuy and from what he tells me its very wet and very windy(winds of about 160ks) so from what i can gather they are through the worst of it and thankfully didnt cop the core of the cyclone which i believe has a core with winds to 260ks. Hey Brian i would be getting that beer and ice a.s.a.p they stopped selling takeaways in Nhulunbuy 2-3 days ago and only served up light beer in the bars for the past two days to stop "cyclone parties" !! Lucky for Hubby they can once again have a brew. Fingers crossed Monica dies out in the Gulf and doesn't reach Darwin as predicted, keep us posted. Cheers Trace

Latest update is that TC Monica Crossed 60 ks to the south of Darwin and is heading toward the WA border it has been downgraded to a cat 2 but once it crosses back out to sea they expect it to intensify again. I just spoke to my friends in Humpty Doo, it passed them about 20ks to the south as a cat 1 with very little rain or wind, big Sigh of relief. Now we just wait and see if it decides to head my way. Regards Barry
