Gas saving tip

everybody, get you a k&n air filter. will add about 40 or 50 miles to a tank of gas, no kidding. They r pretty exp. about $40 but will pay for themselves in a few tank fulls. I set my trip every time i filled up for a few weeks before i bought one just to see the difference. i would wait until fuel light came on before filling up again. getting about 175 miles to a tank just all around driving. bought my k&n and now am getting 235 miles to the tank. Unfucking believeable. i've told all my friends and they agree it is the best investment they ever made. you only have to clean them every 50,000 miles also. So until we get that f-----ng BUSH outta office this might ease the pocketbook for u some.

K & N is the way to go, actually it pays for itself because the filter element is reusable. That keep your tire temps constant, and haul *** like a senior citizen.

K&N's are the best. When I was customising caddies we used them all the time.

If this article is correct, you may save gas, but your engine is exposed to a lot more dirt with a K&N filter.  That's going to reduce engine life.  Is the trade off worth it?  Depends how long you keep your car, I guess.

This actually sounds like something I should look into!  I drive this old mid-nineties Mercury Sable that my dad got for $3000 a little over a year ago.  It already has quite a few miles on it, and it's definitely not the car of my dreams, but I drive in and out of Philadelphia almost every day, so in that respect, it's great.  I can drive over potholes, occasionally nick the curb, and frankly, have people bump into my car in a crowded lot and not much happens...  It's a good "city" car.

However, A/C doesn't really work.  Heat doesn't come on for like 20 minutes.  It eats gas like nothing I've ever seen - especially if it's summer and I'm attempting to use the A/C.  So gas is just about to jump over $3.00 here (probably tomorrow if it hasn't already...), and it does get expensive as I drive a lot!

I hope to buy a new car in the next couple of years once I get settled down with loan payments and other things that I'm budgeting right now.  So if this filter doesn't destroy the car TOO soon, then it may just be worth it.  I'll have to ask my dad what he thinks.

Nothing worse than driving through the rough sections of the city and I'm in my POS car (which I can't curse because then it won't start tomorrow morning when I'm leaving for work - so let's just say it's a city-driving functional piece of beauty LOL) and I see all these people living in row homes with boarded up windows and destruction everywhere, but yet they're driving up the street in a 2005 Mercedes with windows tinted so dark they're actually illegal.  Guess at least I know I didn't do anything illegal to buy my car!  haha...

Oh and you won't find me saying this about many things, but actually I don't think removing the Bush administration would really make all our gas woes go away.  Today the democrats made a statement about dealing with the increase at the pump by saying, "drive less."  Apparently, the environmental lobbyists love this one...  Except I really don't think it makes too many people drive less.  Probably still drive the same (we gotta work, and we can't all take public transportation) but eat less or some other thing we can kinda sorta give up if it doesn't mean getting to work and actually making it through the day.  LOL

hmmmm... instead of looking into price gouging, they tell us to drive less.... sure is odd that 6 months ago BEFORE they met up with the oil tycoons behind closed doors, they were screaming like us, but now that tune has changed... hmmmm
