Incompetence

In 2000 & 2003, we filed our state taxes electronically.

2000 we received refund checks: mine $27.00 and Darryl $25.00. We laughed at how we would spend our windfall.

In 2003 we owed $12.00. We paid by credit card.
While researching tax information, I found out quite by accident that our 2000 and '03 state taxes were "never received or filed" - even though we got the checks in '00.

So I resent everything as instructed. The VA Dept of Taxation returned Darryl's re-filed 2000 return. Why? Because it was incomplete. WE ALREADY RECEIVED A REFUND CHECK 6 YEARS AGO.

Second aggravation:
On the 5th, I dropped off the prescription then took my son for his bloodwork for the accutane. $30.00 co-pay at the dr's office for the bloodwork.  Went  back to the pharmacy to pick up the presc. only to be told its not in stock and the order would be in tomorrow.

I went back the two days later. It hadn't been filled but come back in 15 mins. I go back 45 mins later, I'm told that they can't fill it b/c I need prior insurance authorization. So I call the dr's office. They say call the pharmacy for them to send the form. I call the pharmacy, they say call the dr's office- they don't do that. I call the dr's office back again, they say they'll take care of it. COULDN'T DO THAT THE FIRST TIME????

The dr's office calls back, says they contacted ins co. and the pharmacy and everything is ok. I call the pharmacy to let them know, they say they havent heard anything but will call me back when they do. No call back.

I call the following day. Nope, havent heard anything, but will call back when they do. No call back.

I call the following day. He wants to verify my son's PO BOX- WE NEVER HAD A PO BOX. The pharmacy tech says he is busy and can't look up the info right then, but will call back. Surprisingly, he did. And what does he tell me? "This prescription is expired. You had to get it filled within 7 days."  I said YOU'VE HAD IT FOR 7 DAYS.
He says you need prior authorization. UM DUH!!!! WE'VE ALREADY DONE ALL OF THIS 5 DAYS AGO.

So he says, we don't have any of this on record, don't worry, we'll get it straightened out and .........................I'll call you back.    Can you guess what happened next?

Wow!  Can I relate to that.  I have had very similar experiences on many occasions when trying to get or renew my Relpax scrip.  The latest battle started in November.  I finally got an authorization letter for an increase from my insurance company on March 23rd.  Too bad my cycle ended in February.  Thank heavens my Neuro kept me supplied with samples until it was all sorted out.  I feel blessed to have benefits, but what you have to go through on occasion is just wrong.

Sorry you had such a tough time, but fel free to vent.

Allow me to add my pharmacy nightmare.

Let me begin by saying we have a great pharmacy here that makes the calls to whoever I need for me.  However, here is my story:

I went to see a HA specialist who gave me a script for Migranal to take 1 hour before my 1st evening HA everyday and repeat if needed 1x in 24 hours.  The thought was that it would allow me to sleep.  (this was in December of this year)

I went to fill it and my pharmacy couldn't do it.  1st because I had filled Maxalt a week before and I couldn't get this stuff within 30 days of the Maxalt.  So, my Dr called the ins company to tell them the Maxalt was stopped for the Migranal.

I was then told by my dr's nurse after 2 days of calls that the ins company had said no and they couldn't do anything else.  I called the Ins company and THEY COUDLN'T FIND ME in their computer.  I had to call back and speak to another rep at the same phone number.

This rep told me to have a form faxed to them form my dr (who called them and did it).  I was told I had to order a 3 month supply fromt heir mailorder pharmacy.  This was in early January.  The order was placed.

5 weeks later, stilll no Migranol.  I had started on Melatonin (with my verap) and had a lot of success.  So, I called and found out the Migranal was suppossed to be shipped and they hadn't.  She promised it would go out right away when i told her to cancel it.  I didn't need it and it was $120 to TRY IT for 3 months.  She asked if I was sure and I said I didn't know what to do.  What if the melatonin didn't continue to work.

So, the person suggested they put the order on hold while I decide.  I said OK.

4 weeks later I got a call (a recording) that the Migranal was shipped and I got it a few days later.

I called them to return the meds.  It was early April and in the 3 1/2 months it took to get the meds, I had found something else that worked.  I had only got 18 doses of Migranal as a "3 month supply" but was perscribed to take it EVERY DAY.

Anyhow, they were suppossed to call me back to tell me what they were going to do.  I won't pay for drugs I wont use and they can't take them back.  Looks like I got 18 doses of a drug I can't use, I can't give away, and I wont pay for.

So, I understand your feelings.  It took me 3.5 months to get less than 3 weeks of this stuff for $120 bucks and i don't need it now.

What can I say? We've all been there. The best defense is to know a pharmacist. Still, now and then I have to get after them. Pricks.

That sounds like my HMO. Buncha effen criminals and morons afraid to think.
