First the rant.

The change in my hits is driving me Crazy! There is no rhyme or reson to them any longer. At one point, I used to be able to tell people the time of day, without a watch, just by my head. Now I have no idea when I am going to get hit, or how hard. That part has changed too. Used to be that I could judge the strength of the hit by the feel of the stirring in my head. Now I don't even get a warning, just get instant slam.

The good news

is that I had 4 full days last week pain free. 2 days this week. Do you realize that I have had more pain free days this year than I have in a solid year, for any year of my life that I remember?
All because of you and the information available on this site. (Thanks again DJ!!)
What is even more astounding is that I was able to have a beer last week, and one this week! (Helen, it was a nice dark English Porter)
My wife looke at me last week, raised an eyebrow, and asked me if that was wise.. it wasn't, but I was going to have it anyway. AND I SURVIVED!!

Anyway, I felt like sharing that. Thank you for reading this.

Lance,

Very glad to hear about the pain free time!!  If I remember correctly, your hits stopped following a schedule after you found help with a preventive right?  If that's the case, only you can determine if the lack of predictability is worth it - but if you were to ask me, I'd say yes given how much pain free time you've also had!!  Try to focus on those good days. Smiley

Last weekend, I was really down - was super depressed about how I was feeling.  I couldn't get out of bed for 2 days from some of the pain/exhaustion that I was experiencing besides CH.  I talked to my mom about it, and I was expressing how frustrated I was that I shouldn't feel this way at age 25.  She told me that I need to just really cherish the good days.

So that's my advice to you as well.  Because this week, every time I've had a day where I've felt half decent, I've stopped myself and said, "Wow I sure am glad that I have this day which seems a little better than the others!"  I don't want the good days to slip by unnoticed. Smiley

Hugz and many PF wishes to you!!

Know exactly what you're talking about Lance.  I call them wild-cats and reckon even if it's real low intensity they're harder to deal with than the full-on scrape-me-off-the-ceiling-fan variety.

No laughing, but I found a couple of Panadols every four hours helped settle things down a bit.

I'm with Mr Brain on this one, instead of Panadol/Panado, I use Adco-Dol.  One tablet contains 450mg Paracetamol, 10mg Codeine Phosphate, 45mg Caffeine and 5mg Doxyfamine Succinate.

It does not help to take these in or during a hit but it does seem to calm things more down if I get up with a shadow.  Maybe it is just the extra caffeine as I take these with a very strong cup of java.

I came across this when I ran out of meds and scoured the meds cupboard for some relief.

Unfortunately the beast do change face and becomes unpredictable but more PF days is definitely an added bonus.

You hang tough, wishing you more and more PF times. Smiley

Brian,

Not laughing. Confused. Never heard of those, so have  no idea. Can't laugh at something you have no knowledge of. Quote:
450mg Paracetamol

What exactly is this? A stimulant, depressant? The caffiene and codene, would keep me wired for hours.
Jas, thanks for giving some info on the med.

Thanks everyone from the pf wishes!

Well, that's alright then and I accept your apology.  It's just that me being such a shy, withdrawn and sensitive sort of bloke means I'm constantly picked on by bullies.

Lance you can't get it there.. for some benighted reason its considered too dangerous (or so I was told by a friend who is a nurse). Its on a par with Ibuprofen and Aspirin over here in that its an OTC drug.
We can't buy melatonin though, THAT's considered dangerous here and yet we can buy Vicodin by another name over the counter too! I shall never understand differing nations logic on drug matters  Roll Eyes
