It is truely a SICK SAD WORLD!

I was looking at the Fox News Site, Fair And Balanced as usual. I came across this little tid bit. It is things like this that make me regret bringing children into this world. People are so sick and depraved it is unreal. This is why I think the justice system is messed up and why I think the penal system is too lax, why we need the death penalty. I am sorry to bring such a negative post to everyone on Easter weekend. But then again this is how this child's family will remember Easter for the rest of their lives.

I guess I have to add to this too.
We need a death penalty to be enforced more often. And lawyers should not be able to lie, just to keep the losers from jail or death.
I never have figured out how lawyers can sleep at night when they know the scum did the deed, yet they work so hard to keep them out of jail. I know I wouldn't be able to live with Myself for doing something like that, just for money.

I think it's about time this old world got back to some damn basics. Parents need to start taking care of their kids and teaching them some VALUES. Get the damn politicians OUT of OUR lives. THEY don't know what's best for OUR kids! Our schools need to quit worrying so much about sex education and who's touching who and start teaching reading, writing and 'rithemetic again. Get the politicians out of our schools and let the teachers start teaching again! Quit teaching them about drugs!!!! They might not be so interested if they didn't know how bad they were!
If people don't work - let them go hungry - they might not be so eager to watch soap operas then! Hell, I'm old and I've got enough wrong with me that I should be taking it easy but I get up and go to work every day - what's wrong with a 20 year old doing the same? I'm sorry, it's just not in me to feel sorry for them because they can't quit having kids. Go to work and you'll be too damn tired to screw around at night!
As far as all this crime is concerned - let the prisons be self-supporting - Put the damn prisoners to work - they may not be so eager to go back.
Basically we just need to get the government OUT of our lives and start telling our politicians ENOUGH!!!!
And I've really got to learn to say what I'm thinking!!!!

Barb do you have any thoughts on this matter? 
As for the welfare folks who just cant seem to find work...I think they should show up at the city hall at 8 am to get a work detail, to either mow city lawns pick up trash clean city offices, what ever their disability will allow.
Prisons, yes they should be a nasty place they don't want to be and don't want to go back to. Grow their own food, livestock for meat, and hey there is an interstate that needs to be resurfaced get busy.
Teachers should teach, and the politicians shut up and sit down and let us be a society. Quit telling me I should be politically correct, quit telling me I cant do this cause it is immoral, quit telling me you know best for my kids and the Ten Commandment should not be on view. That is just a bunch of horse sh*t.
These bleeding hearts have taken away my rights and given them to the criminal, and the derelicts of society.

That's why I'm building a house in the country -- so I can watch my grandkid and get him back to some basics. Let him learn to work, hunt and play without being afraid of every passing car (our house is high enough up on Red Hill not to worry about traffic). Let him be a KID! Let him learn what it's like to plant a garden and eat what you plant. Let him learn some VALUES that I grew up on..... I'm tired of all this political correctness stuff and having to watch everyone.... Up in the country I KNOW everyone and everyone knows Granny..... It's just time to SLOW down.... At Red Hill we SHOOT people and the high sherrif cleans up the mess.....

I agree with all the above posts in this thread. I really think the prison system should get back to basics. All the crime, gang wars and crap that goes on inside prisons you would thing they were still on the streets. Cable, conjative (sp?) visits and having to buss the wife in for it on the taxpayers dime, have to have “my” type of food or I’ll file a law suit. Bullshit!! They should work on a chain gang during the day so by the time they get “home” they will be to tired to start crap. And no BS lawsuits filed by inmates with to much time on their hands.

I'd rather live now than in them good ol' days. I've spent a lot of time dealing in old ephemera. If you think things are bad today, try 100 or 150 years ago. Much more murder, child abuse, wife beating was rarely a crime and fairly common. Child abuse was rarely admitted or prosecuted. I know it's not the popular thing to say. The big difference is that information was filtered by time. Horrible crime stories were often set aside for later editions. A lot were simply not reported to suit churches and politicians.....like the current self righteous bunch would like.

This guy went up to the officer and shot him in the face when he was already down !!!! The NYPD held a service outside Madison Square Garden with candles the night Springsteen had a concert, because he also wrote songs against the NYPD ( 41 SHOTS). How in God's name can you ask to have a killer released ?!?!?! But then again Ted Kennedy walks the streets.

I just got home from Easter dinner with some friends and am so glad that no one else has responded to my last post yet! I want anyone that reads this to know that the tone of my response was entirely wrong. I won't make excuses for my statements because I really do feel that strongly about these issues, however the way that I expressed myself made it look as if I was challenging the political opinions of specific people on this forum and I am not and have no reason to. I welcome any dialog of conflicting opinion but (and I stress this) I am not calling anyone out. My only intent was to make clear the depth of my emotional feelings towards news like this thread started with and make clear that I truly believe the only way to stop this type of heinous behavior is through a zero tolerance approach. There are times in this world where certain people are called on to take another's humans life during war and police type situations. I believe that no one that can do such a thing with no reason or with criminal intent is not a person who can be "fixed" or rehabbed. I don't believe we can build a conscience where there was not one to begin with and I believe the only just remedy for such monsters is death !!!

It's a sad, sick crime. Not sure that the death penalty will act as a deterrent in any way to that kind of person, or to the person who kills in a drunken rage ... those people simply are not rational. But more people would be protected if Americans cared more about mental health than the death penalty - not that someone doesn't deserve life in prison or death for a crime like this, just that if could have been prevented in the first place, then a family would be living with their daughter instead of the 'satisfaction' of seeing her killer put to death.
Just got back from the Bahamas - had a curious encounter with an old man who was obviously not right in the head. We left tourist-town and were off the beaten track, eating in a small dive in a narrow alley. This guy was walking with a cane, and every five or ten steps, he would stop and do a little dance, or shout out at unseen people. He came up to us, and alternated between rational sentences, idea fixations, and complete nonsense. While most people with mental illnesses are not a threat to others, failure to treat them does have a high cost for society. And the cannibal killer in Oklahoma knew he had mental problems, but wasn't getting the appropriate treatment - not sure if that was a decison he made or not or if the care was available to him.

So you don't want people telling you what is moral or immoral, but you do want people to put up religious tablets telling what people can and can't do, which god to worship, not to be greedy, which days to work and which days to pray, and not to take the Lord's name in vain? ??? You are kidding, right? A few lectures a year in health class, a visit from Officer DARE, and posters on the wall are responsible for the drug problems?? While most drug prevention programs are unproven, they came After the increase in drug use. Illegal drug use generally spreads from peer to peer, and legal addictions (alcohol, tobacco) are via peers and a person's own family. The youth anti-smoking campaigns in Florida were having dramatic results, until the legislature here slashed funding.

Fine with me so long as I don't have to trip over the thing.
I don't remember who it was but someone once said that perhaps something that would satisfy both sides would be for a member the victim's family to show up regularly in his cell and clobber the guy within an inch or so of his life..... or perhaps force him to watch Lockup all day long.

One thing people seem to miss - the prison system is ineffective because it is about making money - nothing more. The lefts want rehabilitation and the rights want to grind people to paste - the system is too lazy for either and both sides assume the other side to blame.
Because something pisses of a liberal doesn't mean a conservative is behind it and vice-versa - there usually is a THIRD side in about every controversal or political issue.
You all believing in poltical sides are being played and laughed at by the people you trust and respect for some reason. They don't give 2 drops of piss about you as long as they keep making money and you keep doing the dirty work for them.
The American system is broke because some people decided they can beat the system and 1/2 joined the left and the other half joined the right (and this is whether they realize it or not) and together they are screwing everybody while the people are arguing over irrational takes and having pissing contests inthe wind.
Anyone who trys to put aside the personal interests and really get something done (or even just mind their own business) gets a red-white and blue dildo in the ass until they submit and go back to being a sheep who sees in left or right only, thus rendering themselves powerless.

Hi All,
I'm a 45yo Brit guy fairly new here, living up in a remote Philippines mountain top. We have an excellent 'unofficial' justice system up here, the NPA.
My town has 35,000 locals and half a dozen foreigners including myself with 4 police to protect us. In reality, the police stay in at night as this is when the 200+ NPA rebels are roaming around.
The NPA (New Peoples Army) are a Marxist / Commy group who are literally at war with the Philippines Army and Police and are listed on the US State Depts terrorist list. Sadly, when the US forces were based nearby here they were also targetted. My friends in Manila won't travel here for fear of their safety and my Embassy posts warnings.
Reality is, they make this a very safe place. I think of them like Robin Hood vs the Evil Sherriff.
I'm not remotely a communist sympathiser, I never met my grandafther after Stalin sent him off for 26 years in Siberia, but these guys are cool in my book.
We have a good mayor and police chief today, but years ago this was not the case. Drug dealers openly sold drugs in the High School and the authorities would not act. The locals sought help from the NPA and in the morning they woke to find a major dealer hanging from a tree in the central square. The note on his chest suggested the other dealers leave town by sunset - and they did. We have never had a drug problem since.
I've heard some pretty gory stories of their meting out justice to child molesters. A European who travelled this way regularly from nearby Angeles City looking for prey disappeared never to be found. Locals told me of a barbecue...
So here I live in a 'lawless' environment amidst a terrorist group where big city locals won't go - and I walk any street alone day or night.
A few nights after my 6yo joined me here, after I wrested custody from an abusive mother, I was having a quiet beer on a street corner with locals. A local guy known to be an NPA 'liason' that I know sat and joined me. He started the conversation by saying 'they' had noticed my son here now... ...and that he seemed a nice boy... I wondered where this was heading. He went on to explain that my eyes can't always be watching him - so not to worry - their's would - "your son is safe here - relax"
Maybe more societies need terrorists on their turf like the ones I have here? The worst they've ever given me is a hangover and my family is very safe...
Bit of an alternative point of view!

You've got a point there. The old vigilantee justice system. It worked in the "old" days to clean up the old wild west (not being sarcastic). People watched out after each other and when trouble started, they cleaned it up themselves and lived in realative safety. THEN we got civilized and look what happened!
When I was growing up we were "taught" to respent our elders - not to sass them. Grown ups were Miss Jones or Mr. Smith NOT Ms Mary or Mr. Jim. ONE teacher controlled a classroom - we didn't have a dozen aides - didn't need them - we had parents we didn't want to be called to school!
We had a few perverts in our town that I remember, but the TOWN took care of them and they didn't stay long. And it never got in the papers. We didn't have the "bleeding hearts" to plead their cases of their being "sick" - they were perverts and needed to go to jail! And back in those days, jail wasn't something to look forward to - it was PRISON!
There's a lot to be said for vigilantee justice -- and if things don't change we're gonna have to get back to it just to protect what's ours. It's a shame, but I guess things just don't change much in this old world... the old becomes new....
