I believe there has to be a limit on the immigrants. I feel sorry for people who want to improve themselves and won't be let in-but------- The U.S. Manufacturing level is nil---face it, we don't produce anything anymore. The only people making money are the brokerage houses, the banks, and the oil companies. What happens to our economy when those three hit a brick wall ??? Think about it---we might be in alot of trouble in the years ahead. The way the Auto companies go is usually the way the American Economy goes. Need I say more. Give AMERICANS jobs-----they'll be needing them, if not already.

Get used to it, since our laws allow anyone born here to be a citizen regardless of the legal status of the parents, Anglos will be outnumbered by voting Mexican-American citizens in a generation or so, regardless of what anyone does now. Painful keyword being 'voting'. It sucks but it seems unstoppable.

I don't have anything against immigrants, of any ethnic background - as long as they enter this country legally. Unfortunately, we now have 11 to 12 million ILLEGAL immigrants living here, many for years and years. Many have bought homes, born children (who are US citizens), and have worked their butts off at low paying jobs. I just can't see the US deporting 12 million people. But, I also just can't see the US giving all of them an "amnesty" of some sort.
For those who are already here, in a five year time span, mandatory proficiency in English, and within seven year, mandatory US citizenship. So, if you don't comply, in seven years, you will be arrested and deported back to your native country. Your children, as US citizens will remain.
As for those who attempt to ILLEGALLY enter now, immediate arrest and deportation. Fences along the borders (north and south), checkpoints, and armed border patrols if required. Let's make is easier for foreigners to enter this country legally, and much, much harder to enter illegally.
And, my biggest request to our government - ENGLISH is the spoken word in this country. If you want to stay here, learn it or leave.

Well, first off, I don't know what to propose, and I'm sure that there's nobody in our government that can come up with a solution either. But I think the point Chewey was trying to make is that there's pretty much nothing that is 100% made in this country anymore. Those American made cars you bought, Chevy, Ford, and GMC were ASSEMBLED here. All of the parts that went in to making those cars were not necessaryly MADE in the USA.
I recently wrote a letter to the editor of my local paper in response to someone who had written "buy American". I asked, first, find me something that is 100% MADE in America. My second question was give me a price on that 100% made in America item. Then compare that price to the same product made anywhere else, compare the quality of the product, and then tell me why I should still buy American.
Don't get me wrong, I love this country, and I would buy everything American, if I could find it, number one, and if I could afford it, number two.
Please, somebody take away this soapbox I keep getting on!

I'm in the majority also on this one.
But the answer still lies in the voting this fall. Don't vote - don't complain.... Till we get a NEW congress - it ain't gonna change. My solution - get some INDEPENDENTS in there and get rid of the dems and reps.... They've done about as much harm as they can - who can tell one from the other any more?

The compromise to allow amnesty for the illegals is a slap in the face to all the folks that immigrated lawfully. Do the politicians really believe passing a law will change the influx? Bwaaahahahahaha.
Because of the protests the politicians are afraid to take a tough stance and they did this for show. It will have about as much effect as passing more gun laws or more laws for the war on drugs.
Vote the bums out of office! Have term limits for state and fed elected officials (congressmen) and once they reach the end of their term that’s it. They MUST go back to the private sector, never hold an elected position again and cannot lobby for 5 years. Oh yea, they get the same health care and pension as the rest of the private sector. If they knew they had to swim in the same pool they made, they would make sure it was clean.
