In fact, I've just listened and watched again.  The whole thing reminds me of CH; one of my favourite tracks that I shan't be able to listen to in the same light again Undecided

Not any darker than the tune itself. The only "light" was a fantasy.
 
I agree Lee, the song fits well as a description of a cluster cycle. The break between hits brings some light, only to be brought back to reality when the next attack hits.
Gilmour's lead is perfectly dark, disturbing and gives a deep sense of despair to match Water's lyrics. Water's never did give Gilmour enough credit for being able to interpret Water's lyrics and give them life. I suppose Gilmour never gave Water's enough credit for writing lyrics that inspired such great interpretive work. Typical for great collaborative duos.
