30 things to do before I'm 30

Okay, I'll be 26 in a month. The big 3-0 is 4 years and a month away and I thought that it would be nice to gather a little list of things I shoud do/experience/accomplish before I'm 30. So, any ideas/suggestions what I should put to my 30 things to do before I'm 30 - list? I know that it's complitely possible that I will regret later that I started that list, but hey, I'm just so excited about that idea right now! Best wishes & PF days, Sanna

Sandie, you're way too young to be worrying about what to do before 30. Just enjoy life the best you can while you're still sooo young. Come back and ask again when you're 50.

| I agree with BM (maybe not a good acronym) Do what you want when you want and don't sweat the "before I'm XX" thing. At 20, 30 seems so old. At 50, 30 seems SOOO young.

| Things that will stay with you for the next 30 years and make you feel good. Help a child in need. . . Its amazing how many children among us in everyday life go without the basics. I asked at the school my kids go to a few years ago what I could do to help with a small windfall of money given to me. The unanimous thought for need was shoes. Many families even in affluent areas just cant afford shoes for growing children. Thus the kids show up at school with worn shoes 2 sizes too small. To this date with determination of need given by school personell 192 pairs of new shoes have been bought at walmart through the program over 9 years. Help a worthy looking homeless person. Give him or her a hundred bucks just for the memory. Climb the highest mountain you can find. Walk across a country. Walk naked in public Visit Nepal. Go to a war zone. Spend a day with AussieBrian and the locals there. Call your president just to say Hi. Amass a fortune to rival my friend Bill Gates just because. Love someone. Befriend an elderly person alone. Spend a month outdoors. Teach an adult to read. Volunteer some time in a prison or a pscyche hospital. Sail up the Amazon river. Do a white water rafting trip. Ride a bull. Walk a cow. Bungee jump. Get a picture of a siberian tiger in the wild. Be a ski bum for a winter. Meet the Daali Laama. Enjoy this should get you through the first 6 months.

Before you die.... Drive across country. Watch a baseball game in every ball prk in the country. Go to Alaska and Hawaii. Teach someone something you know how to do and they do not. Love someone w/o expecting to be loved in return. Watch a sunrise. See a sunset from as many oceans or seas as possible. "Allow" a pet to adopt you. Hike the Appalachian Trail. TomM

I already did what I wanted to do before I die, and that was see the ocean. I was actually fortunate enough to see the Pacific Ocean twice (gonna see it again this year) and the Atlantic once, before I turned 30. I can go in peace now. btw Sanna, I'm 31.

Cram in everything. You can do that so much easier before 50. Didn't happen but I'd have liked to sail across the Atlantic to Europe and ride some trains over there. Fly around in a helicopter if you haven't. Fun so long as no one is shooting at you. I'm like 60 in less than 6 months. Kill me now. Charlie

Thanks for nice suggestions already! Before I comment them, let me say that I'm not worried about not achieving something before I'm 30. I used to worry about lots of things all the time. But CH took that habit out of me... Let's see now... Marlinsfan, steal away as many ideas as you can. We can compare lists. Nani, I am planning a long trip to USA. I plan to drive across the country and visit as many of you as I possibly can! (You've been warned... ) Tim, I'll add a visit to Yosemite Park to "Places to visit during the road trip" - list. Mel, here's a new challenge for you: travel to the country of thousands of lakes and midnight sun - Finland! You have a guide waiting here. Charlie, my mum will be 62 in May. She was afraid of turning 60, but she loves it now. She's living the time of her life! I'm sure that you'll have a great time, too. Mule ride... I'll think about it, I promise... Marriage - I believe in it, my parents were married for 27 years before dad died. Trip to Japan - that goes to the list, I've always wanted to travel to Asia in general Fly a paraglider... I'll think about it. Help a child in need - done that; my dad was a Lions Club member and our whole family worked for their campaigns, including helping SOS child villages Help a worthy looking homeless person - When I lived in London, I bought The Big Issue often and one of the sellers kissed my hand afterwards. Climb the highest mountain you can find - I've done that, if our 'mountains' are counted Walk across a country - I've done lots of walking all around the Vatican, does that count? Walk naked in public - this is the country which gave the world sauna; done that (and before you ask, no pics to prove it...) Visit Nepal - sounds lovely. Go to a war zone - well, there has been battles fought here in Finland, too. Spend a day with AussieBrian and the locals there - it was my dad's lifetime dream to travel to Australia. He always wanted to visit Sydney. I suggested that mum & I should travel there when it's been 10 years from his death. That's in 2007. I don't know yet if that trip will happen then, but it would be wonderful to travel there and honor dad's dream. Call your president just to say Hi - Done that; I've met one of our presidents (Mauno Koivisto) and his wife at our presidental palace in Helsinki back in 1989. So I didn't have to call, I just said "hi". Amass a fortune to rival my friend Bill Gates just because - let's put that to the list... Love someone - check! Befriend an elderly person alone - done that Spend a month outdoors - that's me in the summer... Teach an adult to read - I've taught my dad to speak and read English Volunteer some time in a prison or a pscyche hospital - i have to think about that one. Sail up the Amazon river - that would be amazing Do a white water rafting trip - sounds like fun Ride a bull - I did ride a cow, does that count? Walk a cow - done that, actually. Bungee jump - I could do that in Helsinkin during summer time, I'm just bit afraid of heights... Get a picture of a siberian tiger in the wild - that would be cool! Be a ski bum for a winter - well, does skiing holidays count? And the fact that we have winter here in Finland like 8 months a year...? Meet the Daali Laama - I'll out that to the list. I've read about his thoughts and it would be incredible to meet him. Drive across country - that's in plans Watch a baseball game in every ball prk in the country - I've watched all of my best friends' basketball games; does that count? Go to Alaska and Hawaii - sounds great Teach someone something you know how to do and they do not - I've taught my cousin to fish, I've tught my friend to make carrot soup & pancakes Love someone w/o expecting to be loved in return - check Watch a sunrise - I do that as often as possible! See a sunset from as many oceans or seas as possible - I've seen a few and hope to see many more "Allow" a pet to adopt you - done that; cute cat & cute quinea pig are my former owners... Hike the Appalachian Trail - sounds good Fly around in a helicopter - that sounds like fun Best wishes, Sanna

#1. make every day a new experience, whether its a new taste, a new piece of music, a new view. You don't have to spend a fortune travelling the world to find a world yet unexplored. #2. If you ever secretly wonder "what if I...", find out or do it. Make the decision and don't regret it. #3. at 29, laugh at yourself for all you did and thought you knew from ages 13 - 28. #4. at 30, give yourself permission to accept and love the woman you are and the woman you'll become. just my experience and 2 cents Jen

See the Great Lakes See the Giant Redwoods Play in the tide pools on the Oregon Coast, find out what an octipus feels like when it grabs you See a Pronghorn in the wild Pick one thing, every year, locally that you have never done before, such as horseback riding, downhill skiing, motorcycle riding, go in a hot air balloon. in retrospect, the BIG 3-0 isn't so big. don't worry about artificial time increments. live your life the way you want Sanna... be who you are, make the most of every day and be rich inside.... actually, at 26, you are approaching 10,000 days old... (get out your calculator, we'll celebrate that one instead.)
