YAY! Hopefully it's headed north and east. We could do without the smoke from your fires this year. I'm sure we'll have plenty of our own. Enjoy it, bro!! ~nani (who's doing a rain dance)

It's raining in the Valley - finally azcentral.com Mar. 11, 2006 09:36 AM The rain is here! The rain is here! Finally! The Valley was treated to its first measurable rain in nearly five months on Saturday, ending a record-setting dry spell at 144 days. Light rain is expected to continue falling through Saturday night, bringing much-needed moisture to lawns, flowers and trees. The metropolitan area should see three-quarters of an inch of rain from the storm, with some areas east of the Valley getting an inch. "For rain fans, it's going to be a nearly perfect day," said Tony Haffer, National Weather Service chief meteorologist in Phoenix. The rain came after a handful of false alarms as the National Weather Service predicted rain from storms moving into the state, only to see them pass north of the Valley or fizzle out as a high-pressure system held firm over central Arizona. But forecasters were certain this time. "Take it to the bank, it is going to rain," Haffer said Friday. The last measurable rain at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, the Valley's official site, was Oct. 18. And the last time the Valley had this kind of significant precipitation was Aug. 2, when 0.59 of an inch fell. The storm also brought cooler temperatures, with Saturday's high expected to reach just 58 after a string of days in the upper 60s. Sunday's high is expected to reach just 59 as the storm moves out, but Monday will be back on track with 65 and sunny skies and Wednesday's high should reach 75 - good news for Cactus League fans. In the state's northern mountains, the storm meant snow, also much-needed to ease the drought, and some areas could receive a foot of snow, according to the Weather Service. Although the rain will be enjoyed by many, it does make you question the luck of the Irish. After nearly four months of clear skies, which included 20 consecutive Saturdays of perfect weather, the St. Patrick's Day Parade and Faire was set for today at Margaret T. Hance Park in Phoenix. "We have the parade and the fair, come rain or shine," said Mary Moriarty, co-chairwoman of the event. "It will be a nice soft day. That's what they call it in Ireland. And maybe it will feel more like Ireland."

Glad to hear y'all finally getting some precip there. We had a little shower here in Oklahoma, but not enough to lift the burn ban or stop the wildfires. Hopefully those April showers they sing about will come and put everything right again for all of us.

We actually got some snow last night!! Of course, it's all melted and wasn't really enough...but YAY! It was something. I got this in my email this morning. I don't think Hirvi would mind if I shared. Here's Chickabiddy and her snowman.

IT rained pretty much all day yesterday and the sun was out this morning. There on the superstition mountain ( Which is more like a big bump than a mountain) Was covered in snow! ITs really a great sight to see here in Phoenix. Also my in-laws in Payson report about 12-16 inches of snow yesterday! Keep it coming and GREAT pic Nani!!
