Insurance non CH rant and ?s

A few other threads here started me wondering.

I dont pay a dime for this CH disease neither does my insurance. Havent seen a doc for CH in 12 years. Never did me any good.

Spent around 20 bucks on seeds this year for the first time but thats it.

Here is my rant.

I did however spend 18,120 on family health insurances last year. Plus another 4000 in deductibles, plus drug co-pays, plus, plus, plus. As well as 3 pairs of glasses at aprx 420 each.
Oh yea dont have dental insurance so in addition to above had to pay 4700 for one set of braces and ongoing dental care exceeded another 2400 for the family.

Thats over 30,000 in medical expenses with and including insurance.
Without the insurance I would just have to put the wife and kids to sleep as well as the dog. But then life wouldnt be so fun.

To boot next fall I will have not just 1 but 3 kids in college and of course they wont accept community college.
Damn I think I would cry if it wasnt so damn ridiculous. And thats just for health and welfare not including insuring 5 cars, Liability, homeowners, etc..

A good question. How does one manage to pay for all this?

Second question anybody know how I can get a policy to pay for vacations? I need one.

Would be interested in how other self employed folks cover it. Are my costs in line or too low or too high. ( for health and welfare )

Are health savings account policies worth it or just another scam?

I have spoken with others in my area and this seems the norm. Its the basis for all the health cost bitching in america. I remember when I could live well on 25000 per year. Now that only covers about half of all the insurances and medical expenses.

You are insuring 5 cars? Are you driving them all? If some are for your kids, why don't they pick up the costs associated with them?

Not every parent can afford to put their kids through college. Lot's of students work their way through college, and if you can help out a little, then that's great!

Medical expenses that are over 7.5 % of your gross income are tax deductible. Hopefully, you can take advantage of this.

Vacation? Take one, hell, I would. Doesn't have to be long or expensive, and it will keep your peace of mind. Go away for the weekend. Believe me, even a couple of days helps.

Good luck!
