I was sitting in my office doing a little paperwork this afternoon and happened to look out my window and saw smoke rolling by. I stepped outside and looked to the south end of our railyard and the smoke was rolling like you wouldnt believe. I called plant security, grabbed a couple fire brooms and headed down to the fire. There was a UP work crew just outside the perimeter fence and they had started it with their hoe. By the time I had got there it had crossed the fence and had jumped the perimeter road. The flames were 15 to 20 feet high and was being fueld by waist high prarie grass and 20+ mph winds. Not much you can do with a fire broom when its that high. We started putting out what we could along the road to keep it from jumping it again and getting around the yard fence. It did and when it did it took off at an unbelievable speed and got into some schrub woods mixed with cedars. About this time the plant fire department showed up, then the city was close behind. Not long after the county and neighboring towns firetrucks started showwing up, they got infront of it and started cutting a fire line up to the creek. It is amazing how fast that fire moved. Anyway I spent 4 hours fighting the fire then a couple more putting out smoldering ties, I don't look forward to replacing them. Anyhow it was an exciting afternoon.

It is up to YOU to educate yourself and then help your doctor plan your treatment. If you just sit down in front of your doctor and say "make me better" you are setting yourself up for a great deal of pain.

A fire at an ammunition plant isn't good, if it involves the railroad or is next to the tracks, it is in my job description. plus it is kinda fun though, like Svenn said, it was a nice break from the same ol same ol.

Matt ask for a nice Fireman's outfit so you can dress for the occasion next time.  Compulsory safety gear. Wink
