IT ALWAYS PAYS TO TELL THE TRUTH… At Duke University there were four sophomores taking chemistry and all of them had an "A" so far. These four friends were so confident that the weekend before finals, they decided to visit some friends and have a big party. They had a great time, but after all the hearty partying, they slept all day Sunday and didn't make it back to Duke until early Monday morning. Rather than taking the final then, they decided that after the final they would explain to their professor why they missed it. They said that they visited friends but on the way back they had a flat tire. As a result, they missed the final. The professor agreed they could make up the final the next day. The guys were excited and relieved. They studied that night for the exam. The professor placed them in separate rooms and gave them a test booklet. They quickly answered the first problem worth five points. Cool, they thought! Each one in separate rooms, thinking this was going to be easy... then they turned the page. On the second page was written... For 95 points: Which tire? LMAO !!!!

Good one! That reminds me of those days after dad passed away. Mum didn't want to talk to anyone, so I had to lie for her many times. It's interesting to keep on telling people over the phone that "no, mum is not at home" while she's eating her dinner (you could her the sound of knife and fork...) few steps away... I've realised that when I do lie, it's to protect others from getting hurt in a similar manner. Best wishes, Sanna

I found out when I was a kid that when my parents asked me a question - they usually knew the answer so why lie? To the day they died, they could safely say - I never lied to them or anyone else. the one thing about lying is - you have to remember what you told and that takes an effort - to remember the facts - and basically I'm a lazy person - so why bother? Just tell the truth and you don't have to worry about remembering things that aren't true - you tell it the same way (the way it actually happened each time) -- a lot less brain power! But a word of advice to parents -- Never ask an "open ended" question -- ask a "yes or no" question if you want an exact answer. sometimes the "truth" can be talked "around" and a lie NOT be told exactly. There's a definite difference between lying and "telling the 'whole' truth. Of course the time I got expelled from school for cutting class (and getting caught) and the principal asked me if I was going to do it again and I answered "Probably" - my mother told me there were times when a "white" lie was appropriate. Took her two hours to talk him into letting me back in school. Oh well....... Hugs BD
