An attempt at a poem.

It starts, that drumming sound heard over a satanic voice. My tired body tries to fight it, over and over it plays its rhythmic hell. Sweat begins to form, now falling like droplets of pain, a tangible show of this ache from within. I wipe it away, refusing to let it cover me. My aching muscles, now strained and sore, reach out Searching for some magic button To turn off the sound, the drumming, that evil voice. I gasp for air, my dry mouth begging for a sip, a drop of cool water to quench my thirst But alas, there is no time, for the voice screams and the drum’s relentless beat pounds on and on. It screams at me, taunting, mocking me. Forcing me to push on, to lift my arms And flail my legs, to lift the weight of my sluggish and worn out soul. Finally, from Heaven it comes softness of music touches my ear, letting me rest from this horrid nightmare yet knowing that tomorrow it will return And bring with it, by its very nature, a fiercer and more painful hell, its duration seemingly endless. Oh what have I become? How did this happen? Tomorrow, I will summon the strength to overcome. . . . . "The Workout Video" - by Jennifer Donald
