Flu tips...?

So, I've got the flu. I'm on my way to the pharmacy to get something for my throat and some vitamin c-painkillers. And lots of oranges! I found out at breakfast that I can't chew anything, just drink... I'm so glad that I have home-made carrot soup in the fridge. After that I'll be sleeping the day and drinking lots of water, fresh squeezed orange juice and hot flu drink. Any tips how to beat this thing? I'd appreciate all advices. My flu usually lasts 3-5 weeks, which is absolutely ridiculous and my best friend is coming to visit me next week. That's one visit I'm not going to cancel, so I have to get rid of flu by then then. Best wishes & healthy, PF days to all, Sanna edited: for spelling... clearly I shouldn't write anything right now...

Sorry to hear Sanna. Try some chicken broth. A strong, heated cup of ginger brandy with a disprin in also sometimes work. Then get in bed with layers of clothes on and sweat it out. Hope you feel better soon. ((((hug))))

Sorry you're sick, but at least you can still drink. I don't know if it will speed things up, but drinking lots of fluids should ease the symptoms. Keep yourself really hydrated.

Thanks for the tips, guys! I've got chicken and I've got some ginger. And I've been drinking a LOT. I've had some sleep and I feel much better. My nose is so red that I could easily play Rudolph right now... Sanna

Aww, Sanna! I can certainly relate! I spent last weekend in the same condition. My plan, which seemed to work pretty well, was to get through it in a Nyquil haze.....every time I woke up, I'd simply take some more!! Of course, I am not so sure you have Nyquil.....it is a nightimg cold medicine 'that helps you sleep".........maybe alcohol?? I dunno, whenever I use the stuff, my eyes are too fuzzy and yucky to read the label! Of course, my father in law swore by alcohol when he had a virus..."knocks them germs right outtathere!" Those are my best ideas..of course, rest, fluids and more rest will help too......... Feel better, Sanna! Cathi

A hot cup of tea with a shot of bourbon in it. Tastes like crap, but it works.

I'm feeling much better today. Lot less sneezing, thank goodness. Svenn, I haven't tried cognac. Nor bourbon. Back here illnesses are treated with... But lots of sleep and some painkillers with vitamin c must have worked. And lots of oranges.
