I've been away and ill, so I haven't been able to be here much. But I haven't seen mention of this story on the boards, so I thought i'd share. Sara Renner and her teammate Beckie Scott are well loved here in Canada and have done amazing things for the sport of cross-country skiing here.  This happened last tuesday....

Canadian readers hail Norway's Olympic Spirit
The Norway Post has been inundated with e-mails from grateful Canadian readers, after a Norwegian coach handed a spare pole to Canadian cross-country skier Sara Renner, who broke her left pole in the sprint relay final on Tuesday. This enabled the Canadian team to win silver. The Norwegian competitors ended in fourth place.

Many thanks to the Norwegian coach

It is up to YOU to educate yourself and then help your doctor plan your treatment. If you just sit down in front of your doctor and say "make me better" you are setting yourself up for a great deal of pain.

Hey Danielle,

Sorry you haven't been feeling well lately!  Hope things are getting better...!

Thanks for posting this!  I love stories like this...and sometimes they get overshadowed in the media by the bad stuff!!  I liked last night that many of the ice dancing pairs were making statements that they wished the Canadian skater who had to withdraw due to injury was able to be at the competition and they were thinking of her.  Also, her partner went out to practice and when they interviewed the pair, he spoke about how he went out there for her to live her dream.  It was so heartwarming!!

Also - tonight they told a story about an American female bobsledder.  Her husband had given up his job to be her coach, and they have twin sons.  One of them is deaf.  And the story was about how he needed a surgery, and the only person who could do it was in Italy.  The olympics are actually her secondary reason for going to Italy because her son got the surgery and heard his first sounds just recently!  Very awesome....

Much better than stories about Bode Miller being a bad sport and those two American speed skaters who keep back stabbing each other!!

Hope we keep hearing more stories like this one!

So much of the planet dwells on all the negatives. I wish people would try to see the beauty in their everyday lives. It's great to hear the heartwarming stories just to remember that good really does get the upper hand once in a while.

I have soooo many stupid "issues" to deal with (like everyone else) but I get up each morning from a warm bed, in a house we almost own and have plenty of food to choose from.(too much, if you could see the size of my....)

Anyways, thanks again for the well wishes, once the cast comes off.....watch out !
