I'll use an analogy to get my point across.
When one has a tick, one will generally remove it so that it can't continue to inject any disease or bacteria into one's body or suck blood.
Then the area is cleaned and disinfected to keep it from festering and getting infected.
We are an intelligent species. We are smarter than a parasite. So we know not to put the tick back on our skin and let it feed on our lifeblood. We don't let it reopen a wound or let it re-attach and create new wounds, and then complain that we keep getting irritated by the parasite or getting sick from its poisons.
We know that when a tick sucks blood, it swells larger and larger, sucking blood till it is satisfied at that feeding. But a tick is never satisfied. It must try to continue to feed or it will die.
So the lesson learned is: don't feed a parasite.

I've noticed in several of these, let's call them unhappy threads, that people are posting private messages and e-mails they have received. Here's my  .
A PM means "private message". An e-mail is also considered a "private message". Under no circumstances should any "private message" be placed on a public board. Frankly, it makes me very wary of sending anyone a private message, not knowing if it will become public should that person and I ever have a difference of opinion. Private means PRIVATE. I don't care what the provocation was to post it publically - there is no excuse.
Again, just my two cents.

I agree and I know this is rehashing the stuff that was in the "Privacy" thread but since it came up...
If anyone PM's or emails me, I keep that information private unless they've asked me directly to share it with others. Any conversations I have on the phone or in IM are the same way - what someone tells me in confidence stays that way.
HOWEVER, if someone were to contact me with an abusive PM, email, phone call, IM what have you - I'm sorry...they've lost the promise of privacy. In keeping it private, it gives that person the security that they can continue the abuse and nobody has to know. Verbal abuse is still abuse. If you don't speak up - even if it's just a matter of forwarding it on to DJ - then that person feels that they have the right and domain to continue the behaviour.
Under all other circumstances, what someone tells me privately is going to remain that way. But I will say I have posted a PM publicly - but only one time - and it was a very rude and crude PM at that. It wasn't recent, and he was mad, but I'll tell ya what - he didn't ever do that to me again!

I disagree Chewy. Sorry. There is absolutely nothing that you, or anyone else could post to me in a private message that would make me want to post it publically. My private messages - good or bad or abusive - are private. I will fight my own battles privately, not on a public board. To me, and again, it's just my own personal opinion, by going public, it's sort of like saying "he did it first!". or "it's all his fault" Like a bunch of 5 year olds. I'm not perfect, not by a long shot, but there a line that I cannot cross, and that is what is private to me, stays private to me. It is not for public consumption.
Sorry Chewy, I can't agree with you on this one.
