Hi..... Although I know some will find this entry as rude or even in some way patronizing....... and a good way for a newbie to have from the start angering people. And after a long thought I decided to enter this “message” on the board… It was my luck at a unlucky time that I ( actually my wife) found this website… which helped me with a lot of answers to more questions and doubts I had… and for that I am grateful (in a way words can not express), BUT!!! Unfortunately I had an early morning “wake up call”, and got to the computer…. and started to go through some of the “boards”…….. I believe I am among civilized people whose interest is to share knowledge and experience about an unfortunate situation….. and support each other in their weak moments as well as in their happy ones… But I was saddened and in a way very disappointed to see the sort of language and bashing in more than a few of the posts on the boards… We all share a goal…or so I believe… to hang the demons tools on the wall…. And for the new ones a new prospect and help in dealing with CH, giving ideas or just a nice word of encouragement and support…. It helped me!!!! And for that, again, I am more than grateful to you all… But If one posts an idea or what ever… I might agree with it or disagree and if I have an opinion I will most likely voice my opinion… at time nice, at times sarcastically BUT At all time respectfully!!! And using PROPER language, used among civilized people. And if a post angers me…I will voice my anger BUT respectfully!!!! I am aware of the SO CALLED CH sufferers… little time charlatans, and yes I did fall for one of them my self…(on a different website) … To this pitiful people…if you read this… you abuse others misfortune for your own pleasure…or personal gain and in normal societies we call them sadists – and then you should seek help yourself…this is a disorder!!!! And if its for personal gain, I will analog it to nature (so I avoid using profanities): we call them ticks sucking out of its host with no return whatsoever, and on top in most of the cases, harm the host that nurtures them!!! Just drop your habit, and leave us alone, please. And if you don’t, every soap bubble is bound to pop… “A mans character is his fate” (heraclitus) And… Any type of good discussion and even argument is productive and might bring good ideas to all of us…. and what could be more or better than a good idea that could help? But With respect to others’ thoughts or ideas Criticism…. more than welcome But Let it be constructive, and in a friendly and respectful manner! The Talmud teaches us: who saves just one person is like he saved the whole world… (I hope I did quoted this correctly in English) Therefore if an idea helped only one person, its like it helped us all I think I made my point… If you agree or disagree with me, pls just do it in a mannered and respectful way, despite cultural or in spite cultural differences… it makes us all so colorful and even more interesting…. What a nice way of sharing my weak moments as well as the happy ones with so many ppl who do care and are interested… and I don’t even know you…and still feel like you are my best friends… and an anker in rough seas… Michael

I think a lot of us are feeling the same way right now michael. This isnt a place for retarded pissing matches, if you wanna get into a retarded pissing match, go to yahoo.com chat. PF wishes B$ Edited to clarify: Its not the people I think are acting retarded, its the act of the flame war, pissing matches, and superiority complexes that are retarded in my opinion. If anyone was offended at my choice of word "retarded" as it is a derogtory insulting word, I apologize. I know that word is mean and I should have never said it. Please forgive me.

Pretty good Michael. We need to be shaken up now and then. You should have seen the old board. Most of the fun was had at the expense of medical crackpots and other cranks. I was one of the worst there. I'll work on it. Charlie

You indicate english is not your first language, yet you eloquently wrote out many of my thoughts. In the CH chat room, I speak with people who say they don't read the board or post anymore because it is mostly R rated. I too am eternally grateful to this board for turning me on to the meds that gave me back a semi normal life again. I will conitnue to post and try to help people with what little knowledge I have of this malady. If someone is a troll...mark him as such and then move on. 10 pages of profanity laced bashing just feeds their sick egos. I still love you all and again, owe my level of normalcy to you. End of my rant! Guiseppi

Michael, I do apologise for all of us and our behaviour. Unfortunately we cannot become better people, we've tried but failed miserably due to our inherent voices. This is still the best place for CHers and Trolls are a part of this modern technology. I hope we all had a good bash at the latest Troll/s, the pent up emotions spewing from our lips, fingers and brains got some release and that we are good again for a period of relative peace. This will exclude the bashing of the medical profession and yanking each others chains. Peace.

I agree it gets tireing when someone relentlessly goes at it......and I've seen it bring the WORST out in people and some have went to far with it. But......at the same time.......this place is really no different then any BIG family that see's each other daily in a round about way. Same way with large groups of close friends.....I see this go on all the time. And as with this site it seems to come in sessions.......then it blows over and things are all cool again for a while. I suppose it depends on how social you are at home to wether you see it happen much or even understand that it does.....but unfortunetly does. Brad has a LARGE family and it is not without conficts.....we hang out with 'several' close groups of freinds from different areas and I can't believe some of the shit that goes on at times and it gets everyone involved and takeing sides. I've seen alot of GOOD long friendships go down the tubes too cuz of it.....it's all how you take it too. If it doesn't hurt you personally to effect your life or way of liveing it should be easy to ignore and just step around the shit. I don't mean to sound HARSH or like a know it all......but I DO see this happen in everyday life. It's NOT that different. Enjoy the good.......walk past the bad Pam Just gotta make things work for yourself and learn to TUNE out the bad stuff. Not been in a group yet of any kind that didn't have the crap sessions from time to time. Sad but true.

This place is like a family. Families don't always get along, but they are always there for each other when we need them to be. This is the "Daily Chat", "General Posts" area of the message board. A lot of crazy shit happens here, but you are not forced to read it. There are other aspects to this site, like the meds section, the cluster specific section, etc. Those are wonderful places for help & support on clusters. Reminder, this whole MB is unmoderated, so it's post at your own risk. The only advice I can give is to think before you click "post". Welcome to the family Michael, you're welcome here. But I would advise not wasting your breath on trying to create an atmosphere "you" desire around here. It's got a life of its own. take care, mel

| Good advice, but harder when they run to 11+ pages and dominate the activity on the board. It is pretty sad that the most active threads are no more than a pissing contest among a bunch of folks who are otherwise true angels of mercy and humanitarians outside of these sometimes ridiculous virtual exchanges. on Feb 18th, 2006, 4:05pm, Melissa wrote:...think before you click "post". |

| I will reiterate that this MB is unmoderated. It's up to the poster whether or not to make that post that makes a thread 11+ pages long. For myself, when I'm finished with a thread, I'll say so, unless something pops up in someones post that interests me, then I'll respond. Those long threads do not dominate the board forever, they do eventually end up on page 2. Hope you're having a good Saturday. mel

| Well said, just like a TV or radio, they all got an on and off switch. There are many things on the board I don't "click" on. A wise old hippie once told me he hits the preview button before each post. I try to do the same thing and still let emotion get the best of me sometimes But you are absolutely right that criticism in a constructive or positive manner should be the norm. However the real electro/internet screwed world doesn't work that way. It is far to easy for some to sit and type on their keyboard and be "bullet proof and indestructible", instead of responsible. Thanks for pointing that out.

| This board is moderated and threads have been locked or deleted. This happens only in the most severe cases, and usually before that happens and when you think that DJ is not reading the board, he will post a warning before he takes action. While a lot if Internet boards are over moderated this one is not. That fact makes this board special, especially to CH sufferers who tend to be a bit more coarse then sufferers of other illnesses. I LIKE BEANS! Good beans! And I like them best cooked in a pressure cooker. The concept is to cook them under pressure, but to allow for a regulator to gradually release the pressure so that it doesn't blow and put beans all over the ceiling. Kinda hard to get the nourishment out of them when that happens. What I don't like is the incessant hissing noise that comes from that gradual release. It's irritating and nerve-grating, but necessary. You put up with it because you know the end result will be good. I just avoid the kitchen when that is happening. When DJ set up this board, he realized that CHers are under a lot of pressure and needed some kind of release mechanism. That's why he catergorized the areas on the board to provide for areas where the beans can be served in comfort, as well as an area where steam can be released so the beans don't end up on the ceiling. Hence we have the "General Posts" area. If you don't want to hear the hissing, don't go into the kitchen. But don't disconnect the regulator or the beans are gonna blow! Just the random thoughts of... The Old Man

| Michael, your post was well-put and perfectly timed, and I appreciate your thoughts. There have been many, many days I come in and only read one or two posts now, from people I know are not screaming an insult from the first sentence of their thread. I have been out of cycle since Dec, but continue to come in to be supportive or share joys in others' lives, but recently all I see is ugliness. I wouldn't blame anyone for thinking the worst of us or not coming back here. Let's hope that the worst is over, and we can all do a "spring-cleaning" of our attitudes. We have enough to fight - lets not add fighting each other. peace, Jen
