Good morning Elaine and all. We have a lot of crane enthusiasts around here, and one of these years, I will participate in the yearly count. Here is one of last years residents.

That's too cool, Elaine! I want to do that, but I know with my pathetic attention span, I'd screw it up. Have fun and get pics. I love birds! hugs, nani

Elaine, as usual, you are right! I have wasted entirely too much time watching a gnat! We have a seasonal creek that meanders thru our back yard at this time of year. We have 3 families of Canadian Geese who stop here, rest and gather themselves for the balance of their trip. Each year, someone seems to choose out creek as a spot to begin their family. Along about Easter, there will be baby geese-chicks gallivanting around. I need to spend more time by the creek. You and JD have a great day, E!!! Cathi

| There's a refuge about 45 minutes south of me. We get the cranes all winter. Every November they hold a 3 day Festival of the Cranes. My favorite part about winter is having cranes all around. The alfalfa farmer, whose field is at the end of my road, plants corn at the end of each summer. We get lots of cranes and geese there all winter long.

Avid. Especially the raptors. Bird count: 12 Garden variety tweetys and 1 Yellow Tail Hawk. Oh shit. Make that 11 garden variety.

Oh what a Day. Go bird watching with a 4 year old. He talks more than I do LOL. We saw three crows, chicken ok he don't count. We also saw a half dozen wild turkey. We walked up on them in the woods scard the pee out of me. We did see some quil. We scard them . Thats about all the birds we saw today. I even threw bird food in the yard when we came back and we sat in the kitchen to see if any would show. Any other day my yard would be full LOL. JD and I had a great time together, even when I went to get some whte clay from the side of the creek and slipped and fell in. JD liked that. That water was COLD! Now JD knows what white wash is.

Just counted 2 cardinals and 14 Juncos. There is about 5 species of ducks floating around out there to. One of them is a Hooded Merganser. Not sure about the rest.
