Hey, I have started reading these books by Janet Evanovich, they are Stephanie Plum books, she's a bounty hunter.....these books are a mixture of comedy, mystery, and romance.  They are AWESOME!  Just thought I would share that.

Kimmie, I've read few of her books, too. Nothing wrong with them, although I must admit that my faves are Sue Grafton's ABC-series about private dedective Kinsey Millhone. Smiley

The Stephanie Plum series is good. You'll enjoy it.

I've also read John Sandford's Prey series, and James Patterson's Alex Cross series. With both, I recommend starting at the beginning of the series.

Also, Lilian Jackson Braun's The Cat Who.... series is good light-hearted mystery reading.

That Janet has 9 or 10 books out now. My wife has read or is going to read them all. I think she is on #8 now. She reads in bed and keeps me awake with her laughing.

For female main characters, I like Kay Scarpetta, the medical examiner (corner) - written by Patrica Cornwall.

However, for male main characters - it's Dirk Pitt, the gorgeous, hunky, underwater expert of NUMA, our country's foremost seagoing research of the government.  Why Dirk can do anything - he raised the Titanic, found sunken ancient boats in the middle of the Sahara desert, and he can even eat crackers in my bed  Grin

Books are written by Clive Cussler - true escapism!  I've got the whole Dirk series and re-read them again and again.  Unfortunately, Dirk is apparently aging out, so Cussler has introduced a new guy, Kurt Austin.  In my opinion, Kurt will have to eat his crackers somewhere else.    Undecided

But, we'll keep reading and maybe I'll change my mind about Kurt's crackers.

Sandy look for books by Karin Slaughter, I love them. I used to like Patricia Cornwalls books until she changed her style to writing in the third person and I think they've lost it somewhat.
I haven't read any Janet Evanovitch but anyone who's name sounds like some serious cursing has to be alright in my book! I'll look out for them and thanks for the tip kimmie!

I'm on number 8 now too.  She's got 11 out so far of the Stephanie Plum series.  They are very funny!

I love Patricia Cornwell's Kay Scarpetta books! I must agree that her changed style bothers me, but I still have them all... Smiley
