Today my neighbor across the street died.  We had to lift his body on to a sheet and carry him down the hall and through the house he built himself. After lifting him on to the gurney we lifted him into the hearse for his last trip down the driveway.

I wondered how many times he walked down that hall...heading to work, the grocery or the many other mundane things that comprise the duties of a good man and provider.  I do know that his best trips were the ones when he was heading to work in his garden.  The man could grow crops and the neighborhood was the benefactor of his skills.

Dianne has been helping his wife Ester since he got sick and was unable to do for her and he hated the fact that he was no longer able to serve his wife.

A life of love, service and growing crops for the neighbors.

See you later Milton Tate.

Steve

Many sobering thoughts go through your mind dont they.

Have done similar in recent days.
We are all just passengers here on this earth. Its how we live our time that makes the difference and it sounds as though he shared his time as well. You and yours are doing the same.

I just hope that when our time comes someone can say at the least he/she lived a life.

RIP
MJ

Like the song says, Its not what you take when you leave this world behind, its what you leave behind you when you go.

Sounds like Milton left a legacy of giving. Go rest high, Milton.

Prayers of peace and comfort to Ester, to you and Dianne, and to your community.

Sounds like he lived well, wise, and loved. His wife, growing things. I hate to see another good one gone. I wish him well.

I've been truely blessed to know many like Milton Tate.

Those who have passed, I think about often.  I've learned so much from each of them and truely miss their company.

More folks need to help when they can or just visit every now and then to provide company.  Far too many only view seniors as financial burdens on the community.  Remind your wife Dianne that she is a rare and wonderful person for taking time to care.

GOD bless Milton Tate and people like him. I hope freinds say the same of me when I cross the bar.

Steve, you were lucky to know the man. His spirit will live forever in you and everyone he touched.
