Broken Cycle? - Odd Feelings?

It may be too soon to say anything BUT UNBELIEVABLY I have not been ripped out of my sleep by this nightmare for over 3 weeks or had a day/evening attack. Without doing anything different, they have just stopped, and even better yet - these are historically my most severe months. After several years without a break this is a strange feeling. I’m not going to stop my meds. this time because in the past, it just seemed to bring the nightmare back with a vengeance. I’m praying that keeping with my current med. schedule will keep the nightmare at bay for more than a month or so. – I guess time will tell. Having had a few 1 to 3 months breaks over the last 11 or 12 years I have no illusions of this being the end of this nightmare (although I would gladly accept it). I know this sounds strange but after living with this nightmare nearly every day for years, I’m finding this oddly difficult to deal with. Returning to normal sleep habits was easy, the bags under my eyes and droopy right eye are going away but it’s like a life change that I have to learn how to live with. Don’t be alarmed, I’ll get over it but I wanted to ask - Can CH really become such a defining factor in ones life? Regardless, it’s all very good news and I am praying for a long remission but will take whatever I can get. I want to thank everyone for the kindness and support provided. Rest assured many folks here have helped me to make it through some difficult times. Wishing Pain Free days and uninterrupted dreams for all. Tom

You are depicting exactly what I went through from end of November to the beginning of December when I had 2+ PAIN FREE weeks. You stop thinking "it is what it is" which had become the mantra for survival and good spirits and you let the dread creep back in. It's sort of like missing an old frined that you have become accustomed to having around 24/7. Keep your spirits up and realize again "it is what it is" Your attitude is great and know that your feelings are very common. Be well Tom! E

Hey Toasterman, great to hear you're less burnt What meds are you on now and how much? Keep the good times rolling and slide down this buttered hill with joy! A break is a break and it is the victory dance I'll do with you!

Thanks all - I'm sure I can get very used to this PF stuff but for right now E-Double's right (except I wasn't thinking about missing an old friend - old fiend maybe?) I do feel good for a change. Jas - 1200mg Lithium Carbonate, 720mg Verapamil, 9mg Melatonin are my base meds. when I tried to stop or reduce my dosages in the past it only re-energized the nightmare so I'll give it a lot of time before I try to back off this time around. A few months ago I threw in two 520mg Prednisone tapers (that didn't seem to do much at the time) but a few months later - pain free. Not sure if the Prednisone did the trick - it hadn't worked in the past but I was desperate. I have another 520mg taper stashed just in case things ramp up again. When I get past a month I'll share a small small victory dance with you. When I get past 3 months - an all out foot stomper will be in order. I may even polish up the old work boots just for the occasion. Best wishes to everyone fighting this nightmare. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Tom
