Andy Rooney said it BEST.....

Right on, Andy Rooney!

Andy Rooney said on "60 Minutes" a few weeks back:

I don't think being a minority makes you a victim of anything except numbers. The only things I can think of that are truly discriminatory are things like the United Negro College Fund, Jet Magazine, Black Entertainment Television, and Miss Black America. Try to have things like the United Caucasian College Fund, Cloud Magazine, White Entertainment Television, or Miss White America; and see what happens...Jesse Jackson will be knocking down your door.

Guns do not make you a killer. I think killing makes you a killer. You can kill someone with a baseball bat or a car, but no one is trying to ban you from driving to the ball game.

I believe they are called the Boy Scouts for a reason, that is why there are no girls allowed. Girls belong in the Girl Scouts! ARE YOU LISTENING MARTHA BURKE?

I think that if you feel homosexuality is wrong, it is not a phobia, it is an opinion.

I have the right "NOT" to be tolerant of others because they are different, weird, or tick me off.

When 70% of the people who get arrested are black , in cities where 70% of the population is black, that is not racial profiling, it is the Law of Probability.

I believe that if you are selling me a milkshake, a pack of cigarettes, a newspaper or a hotel room, you must do it in English! As a matter of fact, if you want to be an American citizen, you should have to speak English!

My father and grandfather didn't die in vain so you can leave the countries you were born in to come over and disrespect ours.

I think the police should have every right to shoot your sorry ass if you threaten them after they tell you to stop. If you can 't understand the word "freeze" or "stop" in English, see the above lines.

I don't think just because you were not born in this country, you are qualified for any special loan programs, government sponsored bank loans or tax breaks, etc., so you can open a hotel, coffee shop, trinket store, or any other business.

We did not go to the aid of certain foreign countries and risk our lives in wars to defend their freedoms, so that decades later they could come over here and tell us our constitution is a living document; and open to their interpretations.

I don't hate the rich. I don't pity the poor.

I know pro wrestling is fake, but so are movies and television. That doesn't stop you from watching them.

I think Bill Gates has every right to keep every penny he made and continue to make more. If it ticks you off, go and invent the next operating system that's better, and put your name on the building.

It doesn't take a whole village to raise a child right, but it does take a parent to stand up to the kid; and smack their little behinds when necessary, and say "NO!"

I think tattoos and piercing are fine if you want them, but please don't pretend they are a political statement. And, please, stay home until that new lip ring heals. I don't want to look at your ugly infected mouth as you serve me French fries!

I am sick of "Political Correctness." I know a lot of black people, and not a single one of them was born in Africa; so how can they be "African-Americans"? Besides, Africa is a continent. I don't go around saying I am a European-American because my great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather was from Europe. I am proud to be from America and nowhere else

And if you don't like my point of view, tough...

Now how did he know what I was thinking?? Huh

When 70% of the people who get arrested are black , in cities where 70% of the population is black, that is not racial profiling, it is the Law of Probability. But when the prison population is 70% black and the general population is 70% white it suggests an anomaly.

I don't hate the rich. I don't pity the poor. Then why bring up the subject?

I know pro wrestling is fake, but so are movies and television. That doesn't stop you from watching them. Or watching you.

It may also suggest that the 70% black prison population simply got caught.

Why do people keep passing off thes these conservative with false attribution to  George Carlin, Andy Rooney, and other likeable cusses?  Why doesnt' Joe Conservative just sign it himself, or send it out anonymously.

Quote:
About a year ago, I became aware of a more serious theft of my name and it is so hurtful to my reputation that it calls for legal action against the thief. Hundreds of people have written asking if I really wrote the 20 detestable remarks made under my name that have had such wide circulation on the Internet.

Some of the remarks, which I will not repeat here, are viciously racist and the spirit of the whole thing is nasty, mean and totally inconsistent with my philosophy of life. It is apparent that the list of comments has been read by hundreds of thousands of Americans, many of whom must believe that it accurately represents opinions of mine that I don't dare express in my column or on television. It is seriously damaging to my reputation.

So stop smearing Andy Rooney's name in the mud, and stop posting that racist bullshit.  When a person is pulled over by the police for going 24 miles in a 25 mph zone, there is a name for it - driving while black. Very few whites have experienced it, nor would be happy to.  I can remember a black college professor, dressed in his Sunday best, being put on the ground and frisked in front of his wife and daughter for daring to take his family to an upscale mall in St. Louis - in the 1990s. Police just couldn't understand why he would be at Niemann-Marcus if he wasn't about to steal something or rape someone.  If you think that racism is gone, please pull your head out of your statistics and your bullshit urban legends.

Anti racism begins with one person and spreads.... I firmly believe that. I was around in the 60s with all the marches and sit-ins and one of my best friends was black. I couldn't grasp the concept of her not being accepted so I did the protest thing. Since then I've lived in countries where I've been the one being discriminated against so I've been on both sides of the fence...

I am VERY predigice (thank goodness Jonny's not here for spelling) but it's against PEOPLE not their color, creed, religion, sexual preference or anything else. I just don't care for A$$holes much.

But when they start telling me I OWE them something because of these things, I get really riled. Now I don't know a conservative from a liberal and don't care much which is which. I have my opinions and I'm just too old to change at this late date.

But I respect everyone else's opinion - even if I don't happen to agree with it and think they're wrong.

Things are murkier than some might like.

It's a good thing. It leaves us with a little room to correct mistakes, ours and theirs.  It's different, going out of our way to make up for hundreds of years oppression compared to requiring reasonable dues.

There are different degrees of exclusion. If you really want an extreme example of it, try religion. It's nothing but for so many.

Hey Flo guess what and now the rest of the story.
That same Inividual when the security tape was examined it was found he did steal a watch from the jewelry counter as described by the clerk when security was called. Of course that part seemed to not make the National news. Speaking of getting facts straight. You may wonder how I would know that? I was the one sent from the alarm company to retrieve the tape for the police out of its locked enclosure and replayed it for then and saw it for myself. I also happen to know his charges didnt stand and he was convicted of shoplifting but charges dropped (his record cleared as part of a plea aggreament) after completion of community service and a fine.

I just love when people give half a story and state as fact while trying to discredit another, not saying anyone would do that. Grin Grin Cool

Not sure that it was national news - I was living in St. Louis at the time. And I don't remember your version making the local news. I ran several searches on Google, and even with ten words in the search string, couldn't get the results down under 160,000 pages; none of the top results were relevant.  Don't remember names, or dates (could have even been the 1980s, not sure) - you got some particulars for me?

Quite apart from that disputed example, it remains my contention that first line of the original post ("I don't think being a minority makes you a victim of anything except numbers") is utter bullshit. Racism is alive in America.  Several friends have detailed how they have been routinely pulled over for no reason other than driving through a white neighborhood.  Study after study has shown that if a person calls to enquire about an apartment using a black dialect, they are more likely to be told that there's nothing available, even when a person speaking a white dialect was told there was something available five minutes before, or five minutes after.

Here's another gem from the original post: "I know a lot of black people, and not a single one of them was born in Africa; so how can they be "African-Americans"? Besides, Africa is a continent. I don't go around saying I am a European-American because my great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather was from Europe."

I know lots of people that call themselves Italian American, Greek American, Armenian-American, or Irish-American.  But they blend in enough with the majority that they can call themselves a hyphenated American at their own convenience.  Blacks are not only in the minority and visibly so, but they also have been defined by society as different for as long as this land has been settled. And most blacks don't even know what country their ancestors were from (a little thing called slavery deprived them of that knowledge, which is why many black people become uncomfortable discussing their surname, and why Malcom changed his name to X).  Maybe someday that will change, and the Italian-American Civic League of Salt Lake City can disband, or atleast rename itself the American-American Civic League or just the American Civic League. You sure won't hear 'Andy Rooney' complaining about that group.

1996 galleria mall on brentwood blvd. Ladue Mo. Name not sure. None of the followup made news because it wasn't " News Worthy"  Yes there is rampant rasism in America along with the rest of the world. And being Multicultural I have a unique view of some of it. Being white in color I have gotten jobs in areas I would not have gotten if it was known I was 1/8 Black. I have lost jobs when it was discovered. I also have been turned down for jobs being white but then offered the same job later when I gave proof I was part Black And part Hispanic. Then I was able to be classified as a minority. My qualifications never did change but my status did. Is it fair iether way? No but I adapted and carried on. When I hear poeple crying poor minority or poor white me I almost choke on my own vomit because only you are responsible for you. Even now I get ticked over things done wrong to me but instead of whinning about it I do that but I also stand up and claim my rightful ability to be treated fairly and legally. I have also been accused of being a rasist and I would have to say 99% of the claims came from people who have to qualify they have black friends instead of just stating they have friends. Yes I even teach my kids the same claim responsability for what you do and never qualify your friends by race, religion, or any other way. I have also been teaching them to never use anothers suffering to further your cause, because all of us suffer in our own way and each of us need to learn to deal with it and not blame others or justify by anothers example. They know for thier decisions there are consiquences, and they are responsible for those and they alone must answer for those.

Accept your decisions and the rewards and punishment  for them equally!
