The Patriot Act in ACTION....

Ya'll have heard me speak of my friend John, the mild mannered CPA. Well, John took a little vacation down to the beach for a little R&R. Made his flight reservations online months ago and they told him he could print out his boarding pass the day he got ready to leave. Well yesterday morning he got ready to leave and went online to print out his boarding pass and it wouldn't let him print out one. So, John goes on to the airport and goes to the ticket counter to get his boarding pass. It's taking a LOT longer than normal and he asks "why" he couldn't print it out online. The ticket agent finally tells him that he's on the "Watch List". After he takes several DEEP breaths (and probabaly a valium) he asks WHY the HELL he's on the Watch List. Seems that Big Brother doesn't really believe ANYONE is really named John Samuel Adams! He called me from the airport yelling about this embarrasment and being the sympathatic friend I am, all I could do was laugh till I was crying. I told him he was just lucky I wasn't traveling with him cause he probably would have NEVER gotten to the damn beach after my big mouth got into that one! And the bright side (according to the nice lady at the ticket counter) is that he'll probably be on the Watch List for about a year. My mama always said ya gotta watch those quiet ones..... Hugs BD

According to Yahoo People Search there are 3751 John Adams in the USA. Common sense would dictate at least one would be a Sam. Only in America.

I just heard about another excess of this paranoiac fear of terrorists: On his flight to the figure skating European championship the luggage of a skater was lost, nothing unusual. Luckily the luggage was soon found, it happens some times, and most of it returned to the owner. Most, because for safety reasons they couldn't hand back the skates. The poor guy had to compete on brand new skates instead on the ones he had 'run in' for the whole season. But then, ice skates come handy if you want to split someone's head.

| Google is going to fight it! It's more about corporate privacy than the rights of the individual ... the searches the government wants wouldn't be linked to the people that were searching. My question is: why should Google (or any other company) be compelled to do the government's homework to help them justify a law that was thrown-out two years ago? Isn't forced labor uncostitutional? Ever hear of a fishing expedition, Gonzalez? If the lazy asses at the Justice Department would just go to www.metaspy.com, they could see what people are searching for. Free. 10 search strings every 15 seconds. More if you hit the refresh button. They could probably even buy a weeks worth of the data from metaspy, which is in the business of providing that data. Here's a taste of what the governent wants, courtesy of MetaCrawler: homesellcanada.com spying on american citizens cuzco, peru knowledge management project hockey+steroid testing companies broan dusctless hood range kapake is my female dog pregnant? peru examples of grant proposals office in the netherlands toothpick bridge general hospital bunnyteens toyota echo suspension blue ridge business journal 10 hotel management washington post zelda rom hessaby football raunchy breast women crime and punishment online baumarkt rundhölzer rundholz rundstab not in the office "clip art of hand holding money" bionary encoding small business phone gas theutilityswitch.com lyrics wilson pickett skirts and hi-heels the snapper (dvd) ecclesiastes 12:6 in the office video rogers shooting school + ellijay, ga. albert hofmann tmj 69 lesbians project management within the isd process purse inserts right to life march and washington medusa eagle alloys wheel locks reverse directory ardmore limousine service "turtle pictures" great oaks student loan myspace.com combine neutrogena acne acne laser scar treatment acne treatment music sex subliminal hee haw website dogsex.com acne herb natural scalp acne natural acne treatment acnecare.biz "turtles of the southeast" cheap paris hotels boone commercial real estate boone county missouri real estate blowing rock county illinois real estate brips.com eibach sportline mustang pics opinions boob job statistical techniques in business and economics eibach sportline mustang pics opinions shoppers dug mart- mission statement environmental management courses eibach sportline mustang pics opinions mature thumbnails acadian guitard music eibach sportline mustang pics opinions A detailed analysis of this data reveals the following: 1) most people don't use search engines to look for porn these days; they know the names of the good websites already. 2) Some people are really stupid. Why lookup myspace.com or homesellcanada.com in a search engine? It will point you straight to those websites! Stupidity is the only answer. 3) Some people can't spell, and will never get what they want from life. Bionary encoding? Thats B-I-N-A-R-Y encoding. (Just goes to show that there are 10 types of people in the world - those that understand binary, and those that don't.) 4) hee haw website... that about says it all. Is it any wonder the government does such a good job of watching John S. Adams? They don't understand the world, but they are going to protect us from it.

That's the way it starts Floridian. A little here, a little there. People never learn. This from the same bunch that wastes our time and money holding decency hearings to make sure you and I don't pay attention to the fact that we have been letting Dubya get away with ending 230 years of free speech. It was Tom Paine and Ben Franklin that warned us of this. George Bush and Dick Cheney said no need to worry your pretty little heads though. Thank God. Charlie

| Geez ... people pretending they got nothin to hide ... Let's start by decriminalizing breast feeding and making clothing optional. Then we'll make all walls transparent, starting with the bathroom stalls, then bathroom walls. All kinds of illegal things go on there, from drug use to masturbation, diarrhea and reading Newsweek on company time, but upright citizens have nothing to fear from the new policy of transparency. Imagine the lives that will be saved if someone has a heart attack in an otherwise vacant bathroom - when people see it on their webcams, they will immediately call 911. Instead of mail being delivered in sealed envelopes to individual homes, we'll just have the mail carrier post it all on a neighborhood bulletin board. Email servers will be reconfigured so everyone has read permission for everything! Private telephone lines will be replaced with the 'party lines' of old - if they were good enough for grandpa and grandma, they're good enough for you.. Nosy Nelly down the street might spend most of the day lurking to hear to your phone calls, but where's the harm in that? She just might catch a terrorist! You can't trust a person with pockets - never know what they are hiding in it. The new clear plastic tote bags are approved by Homeland Security, and are a fashionable replacement for pockets, purses, and brief cases. Your metal-free clothing not only lets you pass through the new generation of detectors at airports, work and the mini-mart, but also allow you to undergo an emergency MRI without having to change! And this security will be good for business - the chances of someone sneaking a healthy snack into a movie theater will drop to near zero. Law against peeping toms will be repealled, and voyeurism will be elevated to a virtue. Eliminating privacy will help build community. We'll all start minding each other's business. It takes a village, you know ....

All the other search engines have turned over the records that the government wants. Got to hand in to Google for telling the Feds. to piss off. The Patriot Act opened the door to domestic spying by our government. "Big Brother" has once again proven it will push the limits of government intrusion into private lives if given any opportunity. First it was to protect us from "Potential Terriorists" now expanded to protect us from ourselves. Who would have guessed? This is what happens when citizens silently sacrifice freedoms for a false sense of security. I wonder how "The U.S." will spell "The SS". Welcome to the United Socialist States of America. Careful - we're being watched Comrade. Tom

Frankly, my letters have already gone off to Congress about this..... What really gets to me right now is they're spending more time on that damn whale in London than on this in the news. DO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE JUST NOT GIVE A DAMN??????? Can we not learn anything from history? Have we lowered our education system so far that we've graduated a bunch of robots from our public schools the past few generations? We can't even keep up with illegal immigrants yet the US gov. wants to spy on American citizens? I've traveled pretty much around the world and US airport security is a joke. Now I just have to wear "clean socks" along with the clean underwear so when I take my shoes off at the airport, I won't embarrase anyone! Hugs BD

| BD you and I are most likely on the same government watch list. My letters are also sent. Again its apathy. U.S. citizens should be outraged by the numerous recent governmental moves into communism/socialism. Can't own land, can't pray out loud, not entitled to personal privacy, - infinite etc., etc., etc's. Government is tearing the flesh from our Constitution because there little more than a peep from the sheep. Tom

Supposidly, the search engines are giving the government the search quirey information stripped of user identification. They are only interested in the terms being searched for. Example: I was looking different woods for a home project. I searched for "black walnut". The results had nothing to do with wood! I got the porniest of porn. The U.S. Congress, in its' infinite wisdom and internet savy believes it can pass U.S. laws that will control internet content worldwide. Unfortunately, this stupidity will only burdon the U.S. portions of the internet with regulations the rest of the world won't have to follow. One sided thinking like this will only move more of the internet out of the U.S. The U.S. Congress in this case wants to pass laws governing seach engine results, filtering and access. If only U.S. based search engines must comply, then there won't be U.S. based search engines, ie: Google moves to China. Citizens of the U.S. who are truly concerned about what children access using search engines and issues involving children on the internet should look to the Executive Branch, the State Dept. and the United Nations, not the Legislative Branch which can only unfairly burdon U.S. based internet businesses.
