Florida Travel Pics

Here are a few photos from the best thing I did in Florida over the past week. This is a "black water" cypress swamp which is beautifully preserved. Without the boardwalk, most of us would never be able to get into the midst of this very difficult environment. The boardwalk... Foot of a cypress tree in the black water... This deer wasn't watching us..she was fixated on the gator in the next pic..... This is a typical bromeliad attached to the cypress. They're attached to the trees and look like fright wigs. Like the orchids, they live in the air, and don't actually feed off the trees. There were nesting wood storcks ...and tons of migratory water birds like this small blue heron wading through this "lettuce" lake.

Wow... how beautiful it is and what clear pics! Being that close to a gator (and not our cuddly variety ) must be an incredible experience. They are so prehistoric looking, quite fearsome beasts. I can't wait to see some more - thank you!

This place is called Corkscrew Swamp. It's the crown jewel of the Audubon preserves, and it is located east of Naples. It has over 2.5 miles of boardwalk, and the place is just exquisite. Here's a link: http://www.audubon.org/local/sanctuary/corkscrew/ Yes, I missed my CH family, and I'll put a few more pics together a little later.

Great pics Pattie! Glad you had a great time! Though being that close to an alligator gives me the creeps... The boardwalk looks cool...all windy with a tree stuck in the middle....LOL Langa

Just a few more pics...This is an example of lights being a work of art (even though this was as Disney World) it is a 50 yard-long gateway of lights seen from one end, and it changed patterns to different music that was playing. The following two pics were views from the little house where I was fortunate to stay on a Gulf Coast beach. and....
