Camaro or Challenger

I saw the new Camaro and Challenger on television, displayed at the car show. Being a fan of 60's and 70's autos I was really excited to see Gm and Chrysler join Ford in the retro fitting of old name plates. I personally liked the Challenger. I loved the Charger when it came out and now the Challenger has even surpassed it on the 'I gotta have' list. My wife may have something to say about spending over 30 grand on a toy with two more to put through college. But, HEY, a boy can dream can't he? Which do YOU like?

Weelll, I would say, Corvette......... Linda Howell will say Mercury Caliente-hot pink, please..... Bob G will say a custom street rod he is building with his grandson's help....... Personally, anything that comes with a pink slip and is clean and reliable is a pretty cool car!

Nissan 350Z is what I drive, and I love it. I test drove the 2005 Mustang GT cause I loved the retro look too, but I tell you, you can't beat the tight horsepower of the Z engine.

The only Ford product I’d look at, and I just might soon, is the top-of-the-line Mercury or Lincoln. The Mustang has been a joke for many years. In the case of the Mustang, Ford keeps promising a real car but never delivers. Their attempt at a retro look missed by a mile. Who in the hell designed that Camero? What an ugly piece of crap! That smiley-face grill makes the car look like it’s trying to fart. From the side it has rice-grinder written all over it. You want a Chevy, get a Vette. Right Cathi? Or maybe 2 Vettes? The ’63 split window is the coolest. I’d go with the Charger SRT, 425hp Hemi of course, or the Magnum Hemi. The Challenger with the Hemi is interesting, if it is ever built. Have to go along with Linda, the ’57 T-bird, black on black, lift-off port hole top is probably the best looking car ever built, in the modern era. If you can’t find one, build one yourself. They are available in kit form and better engineered than the originals.

.......OR 3 Vettes, Bob! Agreed, the 63 split window with the big block would be the ideal, but, sadly, they are not the best ride! Firewall is right at the passenger's feet! Barrett Jackson just auctioned one at $127,000.....I dont think our first house cost that much!! Althoughhhhhhhhh...the idea of the T-bird, as a kit.hmm, that could be the best of BOTH worlds!!! Bob, so when are we racing for pink slips, HMMMMMMMMMMMM??? C-is for Cathi

I've had all kinds. '68 Camaro, 72 Gremlin, 66 Mustang (cvt), 68 Firebird (htp & cvt)(did he say Gremlin?) 67 Buick GS (cvt), and many more, and found redeeming qualities in all. Firebird hardtop was my favorite. But I never had a big block Mopar. I want to round out my vehicular experiences. I did have a Hemi Magnum for two weeks, but had to give it back before the paper work went through. A tree fell on my house in a storm and put the nix on spending the 30 G's. The car was a rocket. Brought back the old memories and got the juices flowing all over again. Midlife crisis? Maybe. I don't care what you call it, I WANT it. (Yes dear)

Never was a Camaro kind of guy nor was I a huge fan of the Trans Am [essentially same car different badge] but the Mopars of the late 60's and early 70's and the the Ford Mustang always had my vote. The Road Runner w/ that 383...OMG! Oh yeah, I always liked the late 60's Goat [Pontiac GTO]. The retro look of cars is getting old, IMHO. I like the "new" Mustang but come on. What happened to being original?

And I thought that every guy wanted to have a Ferrari... Anyway, in my family, the car (yes, just one) has always been either Saab or Peugeot. Personally I think that Mini Coopers are kind of cute... Sanna

| Dam you! Oh well. Love the Mopars of the 70's. We had a boat [36' Hatteras] w/ twin 426's--not the hemi's though--wedges. Yes, there is a difference. Can you say 80 Gallons of fuel per HOUR??? Talk about HP and speed!! 16 Tons of fiberglass moving at 32 knots! Loved working on those MOPARS.

If money was no option...there are a lot of dream cars I would love to get my hands on. But within the realm of my budget...since I already own the car and would take a 10 to 12 grand customizing budget. Ladies & Gentlemen, I give you the Ford Focus RS8. http://www.rsportscars.com/eng/cars/focus_rs8.asp 450 horsepower @ 6700 RPM and yes Paul..it's rear-wheel drive.

| Never had the chance to use I-Drive but I don't believe everything I read. I ordered my 330 CiC w/ SMG, even though every one I talked to and everything I read said not to. I LOVE the SMG! Put the F-U-N back into driving errands and going to work.

I already went through my 'dream car' phase, and now that I have twins on the way, the sad day has come for me to part with my ultimate dream car... I bought the 2000 BMW M5 back during the internet bubble. I've put 135,000 miles on it. I enjoyed it a lot. Bought it to drive, not to look at it. This car has depreciated *just a little*. cough. Paid $100,000 cash for it... dealer offer me $15,000 in trade when I bought my truck last month. Yikes. 0-60 in 4.8 sec cost me about $20,000 a year. Now I drive a Ford planet-fucker Excursion. The funny thing is, this mammoth vehicle gets about 23 mpg with its 7.3l diesel engine. That's almost 50% better than my 417hp BMW. I chipped the engine for better mileage, and got an extra 110hp and 200 ft lbs of torque as a bonus. Other than finding a parking spot big enough, this thing is great. -Fu
