"Those women who drank six or more cups of coffee a day on average had about a 75-percent reduction (sic) in the risk of breast cancer," University of Toronto professor and principal study author, Steven Narod, told broadcaster CTV. Only women who drank caffeinated coffee derived any benefit, however. "Caffeine affects the enzyme that increases the good estrogen production," she said. But, Andre Nkondjoka, an epidemiologist at the University of Montreal hospital and study co-author, noted that coffee contains other elements, notably antioxidants. Nkondjoka recalled a recent US study which showed drinking coffee produced fewer side-effects than generally expected, while reducing hypertension. http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20060106/hl_afp/canadahealthfood_06010620122 8;_ylt=AuS5qH1MuLVlXBZTkThnjmf737YB;_ylu=X3oDMTA2ZGZwam4yBHNlYwNmYw--

Yum!! Point me in the direction of the nearest espresso machine! Thanks for sharing,Jas! Never again will I allow myself to wallow in guilt over my daily caffiene intake.

Just try not to get your caffeine from diet sodas which contain aspartame. I can vouch for it causing nerve damage.

WOOOHOOOOO Me and my coffee are like an old married couple. We can't be parted. I drink at least 2 pots a day sometimes more. This is great news for me, as my Grandmother had a breast removed from cancer.

Okay, I've seen myself after I've had a caffeine tablet. Nobody wants to see me after few cups of coffee... I'd be hyper, I'm sure of that. But that should be delightful news to all my coffee-addicted pals. Cheers! Sanna

I knew there was some reason I didn't listen to my doc when he told me to switch to decaf. I need the energy also. A little bouncing off the walls never hurt anyone. Hugs BD

| Yip I'm with you there Barbara, being awake most of the time doesn't mean the energy is there, I sure do need my caffeine.
