My pain and remidy!

Hi All, I am a 26 yo who has suffered in ignorance since i was 15. I have been to many local doctors all of whom have told me to go home and take a asprin (Yeah right then) I recently found out one of my aunts who livs overseas suffers too and that led me to look into cluster headaches. looks like I have them. I get periods of days / weeks / months where i wake with severe headaches 1 - 3 times a night and occasionaly during the day, but usually at night. the firs sign is a sort of small pain (more of a tingle really) before I go to sleep (or if day before the main event) then I'll wake about 1-2 hours after with a pain so unbearable I cannot describe it adiquetly. The most accurate description I use is that it's like a poker being pushed into the back of my left eye (always the left) and pressure pain in my left forehead and sometimes below my eye, with my left eye becoming bloodshot and watering. The only thing I have found that helps (not really to releave pain it makes it worse to start with but seems to make the pain stop sooner) is a dishtowel soaked in boiling water and placed on the forehead over my eyes. I've never been given any pain relief from the medical profession (B**t***s). All I can say is AAAARRRRGGGGHHH!!!! and I know what you are all going through and sympathise. Try the hot cloth it helps me!! Cheers for reading my schpeel

Welcome to clusterville. You'll find a large number of folks that share in your pursuit of the remedy for the cluster pain. Your success is one of many that that you will find on these boards as abortive techniques. What you will find as you read on is that there are many diffferent approaches, some that work for others and some remedies that actually end up being a trigger for other people. It's a crazy cluster world out there. Don't give up on the medical community or other treatments that you might read about here. I am also averse to using some of the meds that you will read furtyher about, but have found success when I tried Kudzu, which I learned about here. Read the thread on it and see that you are comfortable with any issues that a few people had. There are options out there and the thing I think I've learned over the time i've been reading these boards is don't discount anything. (Except when you see them chase off the trolls who hawk snake oil on these boards --- good entertainment actually). Anyways, welcome, sorry you had to find us. Keep fighting and searching. Scott

Welcome to the mad house. Sorry you are suffering so. Ditto on what Eric said. A proper diagnosis will go a long way towards getting the proper meds. An MRI wouldn't be a bad idea, either. Check out the OUCh UK site. They even have a hotline you can call and talk to a real person.
