I think it's back

Hello All, Well, after being pain free for these past 4 years the beast has decided to come back and pay me a visit. I've been suffering from weird headaches around 1-2pm but only lasting 30 mins for the past 2 weeks and being taken care of with otc migraine medicine as soon as I feel that familiar pain in my left temple. I though it was just stress, but yesterday there was a full bore attack that reduced me to tears in my office and finally broke me from denial of what I was suffering from. I'm so happy that this site has grown to what it is now, and after reading on all the new ways to combat this monster, I now have more hope that this new cycle will not take over my life. Now off to my new doctor armed with this site and hopefully he'll pay attention to the "experts" here. - Denny

Hey All, Thanks for the support. I must say that I really feel stupid for not insisting on O2 when I was more regular with this pain. Out of my Maxalt, Kudzu, Imitrex, Ibuprofen, Melatonin meds, O2 is the one that works or at least relieves my pain 99% of the time. Even in full blown pain the O2 relieves most of it within 15 mins and at least I can attempt work then. This cycle reminds of when I first started getting them, they're not so bad that I'm seeking preventive, just sticking to abortive right now. I can at least jump on O2 right away when I feel that poking in my eye that most of the time I just lose 30 mins. When I was taking the meds and going through the pain without O2, it left me so drained that I was good for nothing afterwards as I just wanted to lay down and recuperate my energy. When I saw my Dr, and brought my self diagnosis to him, he didn't even bat an eye, but he did give me Maxalt instead of Imitrex, the Maxalt symptoms aren't so bad as Imitrex so I guess I'll continue with it. I wonder if I can get him to prescribe monthly doses of both so I can at least have more than 12 pills, you'd think insurance that we pay for would realize that we definately have a need for more than a monthly dose of 12. Okay, thanks for reading my update, I'm an O2 advocate, so much so that I'm shopping for the O2 generating machines, so I can be assured that I have my own O2 supplies on hand. While not a devout church goer, I pray for all those who suffer from anything that leaves them less than they can be. Thanks - Denny p.s., has anyone considered having an "accident" in say the eyeball socket where the HA's feel like they're from? Almost went that way, would have been a win win for me, insurance pays out 100%, lose the (to me) source of pain, oh well, hope it never comes to that point, but this weekend without O2... whew I survived that.

Denny, First off, I am truely sorry you had to be here, but glad you found us....again... There is a real danger with mixing triptans...ie...Maxalt and imitrex.....deadly danger.....search it out as there have been some sufferers here we almost lost to that. I take....or let me correct that...used to take Maxalt....I liked it over and above imitrex, but finally got off of it due to the tightness in the chest and major rebounds....I just went with the O2 finally and my prevent....which is Zonegran for me......Hope your Neuro is a smart one and make sure you go fully armed with information from this website.... Blessings, Karen

TxBasslady: Amazing what pain can make you think of, no worries though. Just thinking out loud in my demented way. Something intersting going on now though. I've been without the pain for 2 days now, been off all meds except took an ibuprofen (for the hell of it I guess) for what seemed like a normal headache about a day ago. The weird thing is that the middle of my head (probably like 2 inches from the front of my forehead) has some throbbing, pressure deal going on. While not a burden cause it's not a pain, just a pressure, feeling around that area I wonder what happened. Sent message to my doc and will wait and see. Crossing my fingers here. lol - D

Denny, I have no medical evidence...but Ibuprofen gives me a headache.. I used to take 4-8 a day, before I was lucky enough to get CH. Since I've had CH....there were a couple times I took Ibuprofen, and I got rebound headaches from it. I swear it made the CH worse too. The excedrin migraine works very well for me for shadows. We just have to keep in mind that we are all so different. Wouldn't it be nice if one med worked for all of us? Guess that's what makes this group so special. We suffer the same....but our treatments are so individualized. Some things simply amaze me. Jean
