Has any one tried to trick the beast? My wife has suffered for 6 years now but has just been "diagnosed" by our less than informed medical entourage, She normally wakes between 4-6 with a kip 7-9 and last night I suggested an alarm clock for 5 am to try to wake before the beast showed up. Today was a good day. No hits as of yet. She actually wanted to get out of the house, So we went to the nearest city in search of kudza and are now trying it thanks to you people I don't know how we have koped for all these years without you Thank you so much for all the info on this site. Steve.

Hey supporter -- I too suffer night time hits - When I'm in a cycle - I've tried waking up before the time for my HA to hit .... sometimes it has worked for me; however, the "beast" is tricky and adapts easily. For those times that it hasn't worked and the HA comes ... at least I'm awake and can deal with it better than if I'm jerked out of a dead sleep. Wish your wife and you PFDANs !! Tony

The night time hits are the worst. Last nite I woke up @ 1:30, with a small one, kip 3 maybe, went back to sleep after 15 mins. Woke up again @ 3:30, same kip, same duration. Went back to sleep. Woke up again @ 5:30, monsterhit kip 9, 4 one hour. Slept from 7 to 9:30, monsterhit again which lasted roughly 2 hours with really bad pain. Had to be at work noon, and still my eye and nose was running. Was done working @ 2 and then the CH was over. Now I dread sleeping, but I have to sleep sometime. Fucking exhausted like hell. I hate spring and summer cause that's when I get into the cycle.. just seems like a long nightmare until end summer. Just to be my favorite time of year, barbequing and drinking cold beer in the sun. I hope they find a cure real soon!

It takes two to tango... me and the Beast, sometimes I lead, sometimes I don't....

Max -- My experience has taught me to sleep in a recliner when in cycle -- it doesn't prevent the hits by any means but it seems to keep the kip at a manageable level. Like you said, night time hits are the worst due to the exhaustion factor .... Good luck to you and many PFDANs !! Tony

Melatonin does the trick for me and my night hits. I haven't had a night hit since I started taking it a month ago. It the day hits I have problems with. You should try it if you haven't already... Kim
