I have been pain free for 5 years.  Had several headaches this week.   Started Imitrex this week.  Does anyone know a good nuerologist in Dallas that has experience with CH?

Hi and welcome.  Sorry you had to find us.

I know I've seen a number of posts regarding finding a doc.  Try the OUCH site (linked on the left).  I believe they have lists of recognized docs.  Or perhaps someone with more info will come along.  Meanwhile, be thankful you have triptans!

Any idea why you can go 4 to 5 years without episode then the beast is back?   I am really depressed about being in the first week of a 6 to 8 weeks of pure hell.    I am 46 years old, last  cycle in 2000 was really bad.

I dont know why you can go 4-5 years but my "remission" time has been increasing after every cycle.  It used to be 1 year and now is up to almost 2 years.  My last cycle before my current one was in 2003 and was by far my worst.  This one now hasnt been as bad.  So maybe the one your in now wont be as bad as your last.

Wish you well and PF days.

Hi Bob,

My best answer to you is simply this (a statement I hate making, I might note):  We're all different.  I consider myself truly lucky to have a cycle only every 4-5 years - especially after finding this board and seeing how much others suffer so much more than I do.  My 8-10 weeks every few years are hell, but they're significantly less a hell than those who are chronic or cycle every year.

Read all you can.  Learn.  Seratonin levels and the hypothalamus have much to do with our syndrome, but a true cure is far away yet.  The best we can do is manage.

Many Hugs,

Kris
