Back after 2 years

A few years ago I came to this site a new cluster sufferer. Comparably I had it easy, only four cycles, 5 to 6 weeks each. I had a great 2 years, no cycles, no attacks, nothing. Last week I came down with a terrible case of strep throat, the very night I was better, the very night I was finally able to get to sleep comfortably, I was awaken by a monster cluster headache. Wasnt till next day I realized it was the start of a new cycle becuase I had two more the next day, and so on. I now am having one every night, and one every evening, and they are doozies. Im severely depressed all the sudden, and I dont know what to do. Do you guys get this way at the start of a cycle, particularly after a long remission. I come home from work now and I just cant do anything, cuz I Know, at 6:30, its coming. Ive never been so depressed, the rest of my life isnt exactly peachy and now I have to deal with this again. Its feeling hopeless. Anyone have words or experiences similar to this? Ive never even sought treatment, for I dont liek doctors and my health insurance is terrible, and I just dont have money. Im in financial ruin in fact. Has any new science come out since I was on here two years ago? Just reaching out for something here people, im Hitting rock bottom. Im sure you all can realte.

We will have to fight to the end .So with that you must get to the doctor for meds. and 02 . For I fill that things will not get better on there on for much longer. Just remember no matter how bad things get ( dollars wise ) THEY ONLY CAN GET BETTER. i AM FILLING WHAT YOU FILL AND THOUGH GODS WILL WE CAN MAKE IT .

HI Todd and Welcome... I'm sure we can all relate to the depression and hopelessness you're feeling now. I would read as much on this site as possible, print what you can and take with you when you see a doctor. Oxygen works well for many of us, when used properly. You can get welder's oxygen without a dr's prescription. There's a link to the left on it. Also the OTC supplement Melatonin has helped decrease some of the night-time hits for some of us. Good luck with getting an upper hand on this cycle. Langa

Todd Sorry to here of your HA. I myself have come to this sight last month for the first time. I was in cycle for the last 4 years, with the last 6 months being everytime I tried to go to bed I would get a CH. After reading and communicating with the wonderful people on this sight I realized I had to make a doctor change. Which I did 2 weeks ago. The neuroligist instantly put my cycle into submission and I have been getting the best sleep Ive had in years. What Im trying to say is, I know you hate docs but sometimes there is no other way to beat the beast. I tried self medicating with every over the counter drug you could think of, But controlling bloodpressure is best left to the proffesionals. Good luck and stick around even when you beat this cycle so you will always have a leg up on the beast. BIGRED

I understand how you are feeling...cycle started two weeks ago. Frustration, hopeless, lack of control...remember that you have got through them before and will again. Thanks to this site I approached my doctor with the oxygen info and got a prescription for what I needed. For the first time in 20 years I am fighting these h/a's and feeling able to cope. The oxygen is great...no side effects. I am able to get out of the house and am able to function. I can't stress enough...TRY THE OXYGEN!! Best of luck to you. Cheryl

Thanks guys/gals. The support here is amazing and does help alot. I have a doctor question. Is it best to start with my general practicioner? Or, dont I have to anyway. In my last cycle 2 years ago I did tell my gen doctor about the CH, and he went ahead and just gave me a bunch of imitrix samples. Needless to say, it was taht same week that my long remission started. My imitrix got lost in a move. Anyhow, do I start again with my gen doctor or can I go straight to a neuro or specialist? Thanks again evryone, God bless

While there are many people who love their imitrex, there are studies showing that imitrex leads to rebound h/as and extended cycles . . .aside from the fact that it's hard on the heart and body . . .I would encourage trying the o2 before going back to imitrex. *positive light and energy* miapet
