Huh
Anyone have advice on over the counter aids that will help bypass my ritual of waking up with headache one hour after going to bed? One problem is I get up at 5Shockedoam to work my 6-4:30pm factory job. I dont want to over medicate and be to spent for the day.

Cool   Thanks lionsound.
Did some research on google and I was suprised to find that melatonin is actualy secreted from the pineal gland, a pea size structure at the center of the brain.
Its the bodys own type of sleeping aid. It also said the older you get the less it releases to the body.
Maybe at 41 Im getting to the point of needing that little extra.
  Ill check into it.
    Thanks

I must agree with my Roaring friend....

If you do have the "typical" wake you up in the middle of the night horrors then.... Melatonin might be a savior.
Many of us (myself included) have found that taking 6-9mg (some take more) about a 1/2 hour to 45minutes prior to bed have Knocked out the night visits and can finally get sleep.

Good luck!

You're welcome. Smiley

And if you look on the medications and treatment board on this site you're likely to find some helpful info/threads there as well.

Lots of folks here use melatonin.

Doses and mileage may vary per person. Smiley

Good Luck!
PF nights for you...

some people try Benadryl too, with mixed results, but when you're desperate... it's worth a try.

or the combo of the two...

Melatonin alone didn't help at all, but the combination has been pretty good for me.

The combination of Melatonin and Benadryl worked great for me.

Good luck!

Melatonin is a good starting point because it's cheap, has no significan side effects and doesn't require an Rx.

If it doesn't work, ask you doc for an Rx for Ergomar. One 2mg tab dissolved under the tongue is an old treatment for night time attacks. Take one-hour before bed.
