First time posting headaches havn't started

I just got diagnosed last year and that’s only because I went to the emergency room because I couldn’t stand the pain anymore! My first cluster headaches started when I was 17. No doctor every told me what I had. I normally get them in December and January but for the last week I’ve been getting that funny feeling in my head around the same time every day. It hasn’t come out the monster! Is there anything I can do now to prevent it from happening altogether?

I'm chronic but I think it works the same way. Get on preventives like Verapamil. The preventives take several weeks to start working so have the abortives ready. See your Neuro now!!!! Thats just what I would do!!!!

Quote: Very good advice. A good neurologist will get you on preventatives before your cycle starts. Look around the board here, look at the links on the left, and arm yourself with information. I hope you get a headstart on the beast.

| In a word....no... You can help reduce the the severity by doing as the others have mentioned, and I agree to get to a neuro FAST, to get the scripts.

Ditto the neuro!!! This is a bad time of year for many. I also get hit Dec. Jan. Starts out the same way, however after 25 years I am loaded and ready. You need an abortive, prevent and plan. Start a diary. Log everything times, dates, length and strength of attacks all relevant information for the neuro. Study and get tough. All the best. BB

| www.clusterbusters.com may be able to answer that question for you.

Religion and sex are powerplays. Manipulate the people for the money they pay. Selling skin, selling God, the numbers look the same on their credit cards. Triptans cause rebounds. Learn it, believe it, live it. I use triptans as the absolute LAST RESORT when treating my CH.

How long have you been coping with our favorite demon? The 02 works well for many of us if used quickly and properly as an abortive. And other abortives as required/recommended by your doc. Stick arround . . . many answers here, shared by folks who really know your pain. PFDANs Richard

Forgot to mention, Verapamil is my preventative and I take 6mg melatonin which I believe is beneficial - so far anyhow. Be safe, Richard
