My 9 years old son

We join this excellent site after heavy searching on internet of what could cause my sons extremely sudden headaches the other night. I have not found any other explanation that it is the start of cluster headache.
He woke up telling he had nightmare that our house was falling over his head. This has happened 3-4 times before, once he was very confused afterwards. Then this night he suddenly screams and hold his head, with extremly pain. It was over in few minutes. Then 5 minutes later it was over him again. This went on 6-7 times. When he went to sleep again after no pain in half an our, he once again after falling asleep screamed of pain. He was some red around the eyes, but there were tears from both eyes because he was crying and screaming, twisting in pain.   We thought he had got  a brain bleeding and were going to die! We drove to the hospital at night, but he was all well and a happy boy, so we went home again before the doctor had time to see him. We will see a doctor later (but this site give probably more information than the doctor have..)
Anybody know if this can start at age 9?

Welcome and I'm sorry you're here. I think children can get CH. Please see a doctor now...not later. You need to find out what it is and how to treat it. Good luck to all of you, especially your son. Please give him a  hug from a new friend in America.

Nani's right MAKE SURE, see a neuro ASAP. The drugs people are on for CH are heavy duty drugs so you want to very sure its CH. I pray he doesn't have this, its so painful for adults, I can't even thing about a child having to deal with this. You know my daugther used to wake up screaming and crying alot when she was little. They call it NIGHT TERRORS. Please see a GOOD neuro first!

Kastanje, please get in contact with Svenn Thorn, you will not meet a kinder man than him.  He is very knowlegeable in the arena of headaches and has many contacts.  Plus I presume you speak the same language.  If Svenn can not answer a question for you, he can find some one who can.  I do hope your son is pain free soon.

Hi and welcome!

Unfortunately, there are young children with CH.

There is an area here on the board, I think it is Children and Clusters.  There was a lady who has a very young son who was diagnosed with CH.

Bless your heart.....I hope and pray that it's not CH.   It's just not fair for a child to suffer     Cry

Good luck, and please seek the help of a specialist who can help your son.

God bless....
