Stay Strong as you can folks!

I want to thank all who have emailed me and made me feel so welcome to this site! I am deeply touched and will be there for you as well. I am chronic cluster, and as dibilitating as they can be, I stay determined to be more than a "sufferer or victim" to the pain. Everyday I look myself in the mirror and tell myself; "that the headaches survived me!" My attacks always nail me in the middle of the night and after the worst of the onset it over and I'm dealing with the aftermath headache, I will clean house quietly or do the laundry if it's still to painful to lay back down and go to sleep. It's my way of telling the headache that it doesn't have complete control over my ass and it won't get it. I've ground my teeth to nearly being smooth over the last few years when I became chronic, but the light bulb finally went on to get a mouth guard and wow it sure has helped with that. I also came across something last night that I would like to pass on, but please get the ok from your docs. I had to go in and get a pain shot in the afternoon and by 7 I was awakened by a very severe attack. I put on the oxygen. I have a set up with just the nostril tube and the condenser machine. I fell asleep with the oxygen on and slept all night with out another attack!!! I haven't had a full nights sleep in over a year or more! I was advised by my doctor today to be careful and make sure that I'm only getting 11/2 liters a minute to be on the safer side and not anymore than that. I plan on trying it tonight when I go to bed to see if it works. I wil keep you posted, but again, don't try this unless you speak with your doctors about it. If you are a smoker you can get into real respitory problems going any higher on the oxygen and even if you aren't. A plan must be in place so that your doctors, family members know what your doing in case you have troubles. Thanks again to all who emailed me! I cherish your kindness and welcome your new friendships. Stay strong and keep up your determination to be stronger than the headaches. I am glad I found you all. Nancy P.

Try some melatonin before bed, it may help too.

Thomas' suggestion worth a try if only because it's cheap and OTC. Try 3 to 6 mg for a few nights, about 1-2 hours before bedtime. Another old time approach which works to block night time attacks is Ergomar, 1 tab about 1-hr before bed. It's an Rx item. Ask you doc about.

Thanks for the suggestions. Melatonin can be an option, however if someone has a seizure disorder it can be very dangerous to use. I had that disorder as well! A horse that didn't want to be ridden kicked me in the head about 30 years ago and that was the latte result. I do encourage everyone to make sure that any OTC products that they take or supplements or herbal stuff be cross checked against any other meds your taking! Your doctor or pharmacists should have the new physicians deck reference that cover all the herbal and other supplements. I work in a drug store and we are seeing more and more drug interactions, so I really caution folks to check it out fully. Many of the meds out there used to try on these headaches I can not take be-cause of my medical history and medications that I'm on for life. So hope you all won't mind the caution I felt I needed to put out there! I know how hard and how much we seek relief and treatment for these, but I'll be danged if I want some side effect to do me in in the end. God bless you all, your so great! Nancy

I'VE NOTICED A DIFFERENCE IN SLEEP ATTACKS SINCE I STARTED TAKING MELATONIN BEFORE BED. BEEN ABLE TO SLEEP WHOLE NITES AT A TIME. IS THAT THE REASON (I DON'T KNOW) SCARED TO STOP AND FIND OUT.
