I've been suffering for nearly eight years now.  After seeing three neuros, an MRI and countless useless meds, Imitrex is the only thing that helps.  But it is so costly and makes me feel like my heart is going to explode.  Anyway, its great to have finally found people who understand!!

Hi and welcome. You should tell your dr how your heart feels when you take the imitrex. It can be dangerous for your heart. I can't use it (or any of the triptans) so I can only use oxygen to abort a HA. Look around on the boards here and at the OUCH site for treatment options (including some preventative meds). Good luck, I hope you find relief. Smiley

Welcome to the board.
Are you using Imitrex injections? If yes, click on the 'imitrex tip' button on the left side of your screen. It'll tell you how to make a 6mg shot in to smaller doses. Saves money, saves medication and may be easier on the heart.

Hi and sorry you are here but this site is great so it is good you found it.  I do imitrex sprays but use them only when the 02 won't help.  Have you tried that?  It is great stuff for many, many clusterheads.  Good luck.

I've been afraid to try Imitrex injections because of a post card I got in the mail.  It said people who have used tablets and spray in the past wound up dead a few hours after their first injection.  Three doctors know about my high blood pressure and how imitrex makes me feel.  They say its okay.  Thank the stars my last cycle ended about two weeks ago and I shoul be good until spring.  I've wondered if change of seasons aggravates things even more.
