Hey everyone..I have had these headaches since I was 16, I am now 39 the longest I have gone pain free was 1 year. I work in emergancy medicine and love it. I have found nothing works for the pain. My employer has been giving me greif since i take off from work due to these wonderfull head aches, most last anywhere from 30 minutes to 4 hours as most of you know that you have no patients for others when your in pain. So i really dont feel like taking care of any sick people while i have these attacks. But like most of you i do my best and try to tough it out. Oh boy what a wonderful time of year little sleep and lots of pain. Yipee i am so lucky! Anyways my name is Rodger and thanks for the welcome.

I have tried O2 imatrex verapamil cold air midren. But the only thing that helps is walking and breathing deeply through the nose. Or just pounding the other side of my head against the wall so i forget about the pain on the oppisite side!

Since you work in emergancy medicine you should have plenty of O2 bottles handy. Strap on a mask and suck it in. Welcome to the board Rodger

Did you use a non-rebreather mask? I tried the O2 a few times in the ER but is wasn't administered properly thus no results. I use it on the pred taper and it works wonderful. Otherwise no luck with it. Hope ya get better. BB

I have a portable O2 tank under the bed that I keep full. I have tried Non-rebreather, simple mask, venturi mask and nasal canula. O2 helps a little then later I get one even worse and feel like I am being punnished for trying to stop the pain. I hate the way it feels, right now I am sitting in the shadows knowing that soon I will be getting one that will rock my world tonight. My right eye is throbbing as I type. By the way I stated that I work emergency medicine,, I am a paramedic for a local ambulance service and I work 24 hour shifts and am allowed to sleep since we work the 24 and it is always scary that some night I will be on duty and get woke by the beast to take him danceing and I will get an ambulance run. Which is great cause the lights and siren seem to excite my little buddy. Cant wait till my season has passed.

What flow rate of O2 did you use? You need 12-15lpm to be effective. Welcome aboard.
