Greetings from the so called sinus headache king

Well, It's good to know I'm still sane. After 2 years of Flonase, decongestants and a few negative CAT Scans, I think I've finally found my people. Same old story...Imitrex is addictive; one 50mg a day is too much; you all know the story. I wish one of my doctors had a CH just once and how quick their tune would change. I'd say I'm a newbee since I've only had these for 2 years now, but I'm certainly not suffering from Migraines !! I've put the razor to my wrists and kissed my crucifix many a night. Today was pretty funny actually. I told a co-worker about my disorder and he proceded to make jokes. Take a f'in aspirin he said. How I wanted to jam a letter opener into his eye. Anyway...I wanted to say how much I appreciate this site. For the longest time I though I was insane...the 1 person suffering from the most painful sinus headaches on the planet. The only person begging his or her PCP for another 5 or 10 Imitrex. Now I realize how misunderstood we are. Our doctors have no conception of what the Imitrex really does. They think it is addictive. We have to beg!! It's really fuckin sad!! Thanks to you though, I foung a headache specialist near my apartment and hopefully he'll put me on O2, Steroids or Lithium. I think I'm at the end of my cycle now, but I won't turn my back on those of you who are not. Thanks for taking the time to read this and may we all have a few hours peace tonight. Anthony

Welcome to the family hun! Sorry you have to be here though! Doctors can be not a very nice persons when it comes to CH but dont give up hope - our doctor just completely changed his tune yesterday and is now prescribing everything marc needs! Try and educate your doctor about CH by printing out some stuff from the links on the left - if he is still an ass after reading it - then get a new doc!! luv sarah xx

Thank you guys/girls for responding to my posting. I've tried (unsuccesfully) to educate my family, friends and co-workers on our horror. I guess we're on our own. Only one who's experienced and battled the beast will understand. I'm glad I'm not alone though. You are my new family...like it or not!! My cycle has not ended as I hoped it did. I didn't encounter the Devil for 4 days, but I thought I could have a few beers tonight...OH was I wrong!! Luckily 1/2 a 50mg Imitrex kicked in after an hour or so, but I learned my lesson. It's not that time yet!! Will it ever be legal for me to stab someone in the eye for being an ass? I think not. I am a big enough prick though, to constantly put my two cents in until I get an answer.

Anthony , I don't try to explain anymore. If I have to explain , you wouldn't understand (sound familiar). When I have an attack at work I don't hide it anymore,I let them enjoy my company . LOL Should have jabbed them. BB

2 things...why does my introduction to the site say I love BB? How can I customize my comment page? Second...I haven't had a run in with the monster in like six days, but I do feel minor irritation behind my left eye for hours at a time (nothing like a CH) and drinking still gives me headaches. I've been taking 1/2 a 50 mg Imitrex for them and it does the trick, but I thought this was supposed to be over for like a year. What's the deal here?

Welcome Anthony. Those feelings ya got are shadows. After the peak of a cycle they can last for a few weeks or more. When ya got shadows it usually means it's still not safe for beer. You may want to check on using Imitrex injections. It will kill the Beast much faster. Usually within 10 minutes or so. If you do get injections, read to the left about the Imitrex tip to save Imitrex and cash. As far as customizing your profile, look at the top of the page and click on profile. If you want your own picture you have to have a web address to host from. Someone may come along and help with that if you don't have a website. Glad you found us. Take care. Hope your cycles ends soon.

Welcome Anthony, Sounds like you're at the right place. The "I love Y.A.B.B." thing is an aauto generated tag that goes on your profile. There is a message board section for the technical stuff. And yes you can customize. Click opn your profil link at the top will take you there. Dude, I gotta say, it doesn't sound like you're out of your cycle. So you have to make a choice: alcohol vs pain. Pretty simple for me, I abstain from ALL alcohol when I'm in cycle. Out of cycle, no problems. Choice is yours though. By agrivating the CH with alcohol you may be prolonging your cycle. Cycle times vary from person to person. I usually get two cycles per year. March/April and Sept./Oct.. Everyones different though. Some more, some less. Some chronic, some episodic. I don't try to explain either. Fortunately I have a wife who understand but didn't at first. She was very unsympathetic the first few years of me going through this shit. Now she understands that this is something that I can't help. And leave the alcohol alone, doesn't help if your giving yourself a HA when you can avoid it. Best Wishes John
