Hello every one, first I want to say thank you for even clicking on my post. My name is Abby and I'm 16 years old. I've been having headaches sinse I was 8 years old. First they tell me and my mom that it is from my sinus's. Then it goes to my allergies, then its sinus infections, then its my asthma, then its because I have chronic pain, now its because of the medication I'm taking. They've put me on all different types of medicine's. At first they started out to only happen during the winter now they've progessed into an every day thing. I've always had stomach pain and vomitting along with it. My mom got tired of seeing me miserable so me and my mom got on the internet and started to look on the internet. I know that I suffer from cluster headaches. But knowing my doctor (the same doctor that gives me the run around) he will take forever before he gets me on the right medication for me. So I would greatly appreciate if you guys gave me some suggestions on over the counter medications that work for you or have in the past. It doesn't have to be medicine, anything you can think of that you done to help your headache, I would greatly appreciate it. It doesn't matter if it seems dumb, because at this point I am willing to try anything. Please help me.

Abby, It sounds like you have alot going on there... Just to clarify, you get HAs everyday (currently)? If so, other than the nausea, what are your other symptoms associated with the HA? There is very little OTC anything that helps with CH. Some folks use melatonin to help avoid night time attacks. Others have reported using benadryl and dramamine in the same manner. What type of tests have you had (MRI, MRA, CT, spinal tap, etc.)? You have to make sure than anything you take OTC will not interact with any other medications you are currently taking. There is no substitution for a doctor. It sounds like you are seeing a GP. You would probably have better results with a neuro for your HAs... Keep us posted on how you are doing. Regards! Chris

Hi Abby, First of all, we click on everyone's post. I think you should see a neuro before taking any pills. Nag until your parents take you. Dont take any medicins without a doc's knowledge, can be very dangerous. I hope you can see a doc real soon and wish you well Ronny.

Hi atroxell8, None of us here will “diagnose” your current medical problems, but can tell you in general about cluster headaches. First, take the cluster quiz to your left….what are the results? Is the pain centered unilaterally around or about the left or right eye? Do the headaches sometimes appear in the middle of the night and will awake you? When you get one of these headaches does it usually appear suddenly and escalates rapidly into unbearable pain? When you have one of these headaches do you want to pace and run about or lie down and be quiet? Anyway, with any headache you need to be under the care of a neurologist who specializes in “headaches”. There are many different kinds of headaches and all are usually treated differently. An accurate medical diagnosis is very important for proper treatment. Keep us informed about what you find out. John

| Check the OUCH site to see if there are any reccomended docs near you. Just because they're a neuro doesn't mean they know anything about cluster's and/or how to effectively treat them. Qualify the doc by asking if they have experience with cluster's.... It's prefferable to find a neuro that specializes in headaches and/or cluster's.
