At about 12 yrs old during a baseball game I took a pitch to the left cheek. Not paying to much attention I guess. No Problems until about 35 yrs old. It started iin the winter and then stuck to may-july. All of the doc's thought I was a pill head looking for meds. You shouldn't get pain like that from sinus problems is what I was told!! A neuro put me on diff meds for what I was told was tri-geminal neuralgia, the last being trileptal, and the pain still comes back for summer vacation. I had just thought I have to live with it but this is some horrendous pain. The neuro wanted to go gamma knife or nerve block, but while getting some photo's taken a friend noticed all my pics had a more red left eye and droopy eyelid. I thought it was age coming on but at a recent regular dr. visit I mentioned that the neuro had increased the trileptal to 450 mg 3 times a day and my pain was still there. I also mentioned to him about the pics and red eye, stuffy left side before the pain and this guy, the regular md. had it. He put me on prednisone 60 mg 3 x day for 1 week. The pain stopped the first night. This week is the 2nd and weening off week, god I hope it works. PS after all this time, I found that using the kitchen sink sprayer with cold water for about 30-45 minutes buys me time to get back to sleep. And sleep sitting up on a nice cool leather couch. Good luck to everybody. Ken

Prednisone is some goood shit when it works! The side effects are barely tolerable, depending on which one's you get, but it beats getting hit with CH. Read up on O2 and triptans. ie; imitrex, zomig, etc... And you really should be on a long term preventative too. Verapamil, etc...
