Hi everyone, Misery Loves Company

I just found this site today. till about 4 weeks ago I had been free for about 2 1/2 years. Thats the longest I've ever gone. Got back from the ER this morning, after once again trying to convince a medical professional that its a "cluster headache" and not some other malady. I was hoping to find a miracle cure here, but I guess not. Been fairly successful with O2 and Imitrex. I will see my regular doc tomorrow and will try to get imitrex injections or nasal spray instead of pills and another round of Prednisone. Also I am only getting about 5-6 lpm of O2 on the machine I have. It's a oxygen concentrator, so it doesn't have a tank, but can't deliver more than 6 lpm, maybe there is a different one. I hate it that there are so many of us out there. But thanks for providing the information and support.

Welcome... Sounds like you have a good handle on things. Except for the O2.... Just have your doc prescribe a tank and regulator that goes to 15 lpm. Or goto the welding shop.... Injections are definitely the peferred form of imitrex...

Hi and Welcome, Don't forget about preventatives. All the Imitrex and Prednisone in the world aren't going to shorten a cycle. Only good prevents like Verapamil (or similar meds) will help do that. Hugs, Kris

Hi Matt, I'm new here and although I read the lengthy report on the subject of cluster headaches, it all seemed very impersonal and clinical. If you make any serious progress in overcoming your CH's, please don't hesitate to tell us about it as I would love to hear of the existence of a mgic cure too but in the absence of that, a reliable (and preferably non too aggressive) solution would be most welcome. Best of luck and kind regards, Ben

Welcome Matt.....I agree with Superpain. Gotta get that o2 at least above 10 lpm's. Makes all the difference in the world. Stick around. Lots of good people here.

Thanks for the replies. I keep thinking it must be near the end, but then I get the familiar twinge, and I know another is coming. I am drained of all emotion now. This has been a very hard cluster. I'll ask my doc about Verapamil. Is that something you take all the time?

| Actually, prednisone will sometimes end the cycle... It did for me.

For a chosen few, Prednisone can end the pain, but for many it's transitional relief. Verapamil (or other calcium channel blockers) has been a godsend for me and many others on this board. Good luck in seeking the right combo for you. Hugs, Kris

| Agreed... It's good stuff, but may be a waste of time without the verap or some other combo.
