Glad I found this site

Finding this site has been like discovering long lost relatives. I've been recently diagnosed, but a long time sufferer. I'm currently on a combination of Effexor and Topomax, with the Topomax dosage gradually being ramped up. I'm being seen at the Center for Advanced Medicine at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. What a tremendous facility! First class people who listen and don't think I'm crazy. Yet to be determined if the combination of medications will do anything. I had my first experience in an emergency room this morning. (Not at Barnes, closer to home) I received some Lidocaine and oxygen and I felt much better afterward. I'm going to be a regular customer there I think. Anyway, best of luck to all of you in your journey toward pain freedom.

Hiya Fugitive, Jim here from right across the river in STL. Glad to hear you're having some success w/Barnes Hosp. Also glad to hear that o2 helped you out. You should ask your Dr about keeping it on hand at home....might keep you outta the ER. Anyway, just wanted to say hi and let you know I'm over here close by. good luck to you, Jim

Hi Jim, Nice to meet you. I really don't mind going to the ER. It's right here on Scott Air Force Base and it doesn't cost me anything. They were really nice to me today as well. I thought they were going to think I was nuts. For a long time I was afraid to tell anyone about what was going on. Not long ago while at work, my left eye started to twitch, my nose was runny, my speech was slurred, and I was rocking backing and forth with my head in my hands, and my co-workers figured somethig was wrong. My headaches usually occur at night, but in this new job, the flourescent lights and computer screen really bother me. Not to mention all the ambient noise from dozens of conversations all around me. Anyway, I hope I'm on the road to recovery. Thanks for the words of encouragement.

Fugitive, Welcome to the board. I agree with Jim.....you need to get your doc to give you a RX for 02. It's cheap compared to the triptan drugs we all take. Hope things get better for you. PF vibes, Jean
